  1. I normally pay about £5 m2 CTD
  2. While I think a ban on gas boilers fitted to new builds is achieved Getting rid of the rest won’t happen for decades It’s unenforceable
  3. We have looked at both for our second build We have gas on our first build But as above very well insulated so bills are low Three self builds near our plots have opted for oil So that’s another option
  4. Quite normal Nothing to worry about They will release the 32 k as the value of your build goes up
  5. 50 is fine As long as your setting out is neat
  6. I been tiling for nearly 40 years Before flexi adhesive We used to screed a floor in the morning and bond the tiles to it in the afternoon A lot more skill than now It’s only the last 12 years that’s UFH heating has become mainstream Five years ago I tiled a 200 m2 floor that had been down a week and the bio boiler hadn’t been commissioned No problems But I put Ditra mat down on my own 150 m2 floor Will they come up without matting Probably not But a ver expensive lesson if they do
  7. It is necessary Nearly every tiling job I price has matting included In saying that I’ve tiled heated floors without it After the customer has signed a waver
  8. I’ve done this many times before Especially fast moving commercial TF If it’s traditional just lap the boards past 50 mil Then trim once the windows go in Weve just done a show home with no widows or casings and slimed the window walls to a taped edge 100 mil short of the edge The customers will pay me to send someone to plant the heads and reveals Then tape and joint Just leave the window walls in skimmed But you will have to pay him a couple of man days to come back and pick the window walls up
  9. If the greet you with Alright La Got some Boss cabinets It’s the same bunch of crooks ?
  10. I think they are what’s left of trade kitchens From my neck of the woods Nightmare
  11. Usually the easiest way if you already have flooring down Would be to bed a fibre tile board onto adhesive Normally 8 mil 5-10 adhesive No decoupler needed When tiling your adhesive should be the same thickness as your tile

They certainly can They are using a law brought in to stop builders stock piling homes Each time I pointed out that it wasn’t habitable They just said But it could be Some friends of ours are having the same problem at the moment Hopefully it’s a Regional thing We consulted our solicitor Advised to take there offer of righting off the so called arrears of 3k and 50% in eight weeks time Going up to a 100 % ten weeks after Really unfair We will add this into our budget for our next build

We had a visit when the house was just a shell No stairs electrics etc Followed by a council tax bill We had them down to inspect the inside and explained there was no water power Just a bare shell They gave us eight weeks Tgen put us on 50% Counsul tax We were 8 months off finishing
  14. I just mixed more water in the first coat
  15. I gave everything a mist coat then brought the ceilings to a finish and about 500 down from the tops of the walls
  16. I used 1200 x5 mil You need the 1500 straps when tying the roof to the gables
  17. Howdens like Wickes and the other sheds have never been able to decide weather they are a trade outlet or a diy store While I wouldn’t use them for our own build I do use them for trade jobs Once I’ve got my quote I simply ask them Do you want to have another look at it before I take it next door to Benchmark That’s usually when I get my managers discount Or I take it into Benchmark and get a couple of grand off for the same product This pendulum system must work for them It did for Ford for many years But it’s unworkable for trade I would take your quote into Benchmark
  18. Render first
  19. Wait a couple of weeks and they will contact you with a sale offer Usually 20% off
  20. A friend in the US sent me this
  21. Absolutely no problem
  22. We spent £9000 getting rid of 750 tons Four years ago I’m hoping to spend a bit less this time There’s a local farmer that says he will take a full load for £50 a time
  23. ISO acoustic is best Often only 25 thick I’ve two bathrooms back to back Built a standard party wall Two 50 mil mf studs with a 50 mil cavity I boarded one side insulated then boarded the second side Then built the next wall in front You can’t even hear the loo flush from either side
  24. More floor insulation would cost less than PV and at least you will get some benefit from upgrading your floor insulation
  25. Ours was quite Anal when it came to the final Sap He also included PV But we chose not to install it He wouldn’t budge on this So we used one of the online Sap companies Cheaper and no hassle
