You could do But if you look around at other chimneys and Velux It’s quite common Not pretty though Manufacturers couldn’t care less how there product is fitted once it’s left the factory
-
Looks ok Its not always easy to get the slates-tiles to lies flat over the flashing Especially thin ones like yours With a thicker type you can knock one of the lugs off the tile Which helps Chimney looks good for a fake There’s some real horrible ones being used

The downside is they are often in rotten areas We recently witnessed a young lad knocked off his motorcycle outside the job I ran to help him and two guys with knives jumped out of the car Threatening me Then proceeded to stab the injured lad The site was shut down for four days as a potential murder scene Not a nice place to live

I use a lot of EWI and render as part of my business Whilst U values can vary slightly EWI and render are pretty bombproof I’ve never had any issues over the last 20 years plus I’ve no particular preference over different systems But I would ask your chosen contractor if you can look at previous jobs By the nature of the EWI They should have dozens of completed jobs in your area

Do I need an architect or SE? Any recommendations?
nod replied to SarahG's topic in Surveyors & Architects
Definitely need a SE Normally cheaper than an Architect to do the building regs -
There’s a real cash flow problem out there Lots of companies are on the brink

If you use gravel Planners will want a rumble strip at the start of your drive 2-3 meters deep

No You haven’t missed anything Your Brickie is correct But what does he know He’s only the guy that lays them Anything other than standard trench block is a nightmare I’ve just laid 340 and had to put a 100 mil concrete block in front of every row for a 125 cavity No 355 trench blocks available I was told they would be double the price if I ordered some and a long wait SE will always over spec BC also Go back to BC and explain the situation You would if you could But you can’t Our brick suppliers have said the 7n FB are being pre orders in there there thousands by Persimmon Barrets etc In the same way that caused the face brick shortage

I think collectively we on here have could probably write a book on drainage issues Also there are quite a few on here who are very savy regarding rules and regulations for septic tans and treatment plant discharge You don’t even need to share your exact location But Scottish and English rules can vary
