Is this a common idea, we have 100m2 of large format tiles to lay and am somewhat terrified of lipping but thought the self leveling kits would sort it.

So it's a shoulder month job is it?

Didn't know that, might have a play - I want to test the water for going over the 16A limit as I would rather not need to buy a limiting inverter or go for 3 phase, even though the pole with it on is in our land and right next to the meter cupboard, and our projected usage pattern will mean that we would be better off if we can export more. Reading around it looks like it is usually NO but can sometimes be YES.

Interesting - gives me another opportunity to trot out the 'everything is connected to everything else' bumper sticker. So essentially as more of us get PV the utilities costs go up because they pass less energy across their network on which to make a profit. So costs standing charge goes up for everybody and those left have to pay more for their electricity - even though some of it might be coming from just next door!

OK so here is a neat little pad in the SE, with price tag to match, that has very nice credentials on the SAP front but can rival Drax when it comes to burning wood 🪵 and they have 2 ASHPs, loads of Solar PV and 2 Solar Edge batteries- but can anyone afford it? https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/144719090#/?channel=RES_NEW

Yep - everything is connected to everything else!

Fascinating stuff. 0.18 seems quite high to me but I guess the bales might be more than 410mm deep.

If you are comfortable power down the diverter and then open the immersion and remove the live wire, wrap the open end in tape and close the immersion cover - wait to see of the problem goes away.

Intumescent paint for use on OSB – who would you recommend?

They can be a bit slow at times. -
MVHR and windows open

Yes the technical guy I have been speaking to took me through all the details and advised me on flow rates, silencing, back pressure calculations etc. Really helpful. -

Any long term issues with the Titons, we are just about to order the new 4B eco plus? -
Intumescent paint for use on OSB – who would you recommend?
MikeSharp01 replied to Chris HB's topic in Building Materials
Plus one for Envirograf - they will help you if they can they will ask you for such things as the surface material - in your case OSB, the fire rating needed and the area to be covered, they then work out the amount of paint and sell you that amount - they won't sell you less and will specify the number of coats of paint. Then once you have done the job they will send you a certificate you can shown to building control. It feels like a faff but its certified work you can actually do yourself. We have used it on all the structural metal work in our build - very limited amount to be fair. They will even give you stickers you can put on the finished surface warning people not to strip it! -
Off-peak energy storage for cheaper heating
MikeSharp01 replied to Originaltwist's topic in Other Heating Systems
If it were insulated on the top as well then it would be a Thermal store of sorts then maybe it would be useful but as they are, By design, open on top to heat the house they are all but useless. Although you do have a load of mass at 20deg to play with if that helps. -
We are all sorry for your loss Joe

Ideas: Thermal Bridge Free Rafter Connection
MikeSharp01 replied to Duncan62's topic in Timber Frame
Can you actually get inverted hangers like that? You will need to pack the Web out to the hanger so you can get the full support to the sides of the hanger. Is there any insulation on the outside of the vertical beam the rafter cones down to. If not you could insulated along the outside edge with some pu and get a better overall performance for the overall detail so you don't need to worry about metal hangers. -
Stand by!

Is that at the bottom or the top?

What proportion of that is appliances? We are deciding appliances now and will get to the final layout around them, ours will be painted doors so we can maintain them and choose nearer the time. I think we now have the floor tiles chosen so that sort of defines everything and as you say it's a mine field with the other half.

I had no problems during yesterday, didn't post much but read a lot - I was only on via my phone but for chunks of the day it would have been on our Wifi at the build.

That's what my wife thinks as well.

Or as I prefer keep it stupidly simple.
