  1. Welcome to the THE forum for self builders - sounds like a challenging project for you both - look forward to travelling with you.
  2. Also how is / does the insulation detail look as the block work might be part of the insulation detail.
  3. Yes I appreciate how it works - but it still seems a lot of talking just to turn a light on / off / brighter / colour change. You will also have to tell it about zones and which lights are in which zones. Overly complex I feel. Juts find a controlled dimmer / colour controller for a bunch of dumb lights much simpler - although you still have to tell it which zone you want to control.
  4. How does an individual bulb know you are talking to it and it alone. "Alexa - 2nd bulb on left off"
  5. It looks like something breaks the join, assuming outside is at the bottom or the image, a little, those squares (x) in the corners or is that just the mastic? Either way it does not feel like a robust detail.
  6. Yes - get some more Torx bits rather than Magnets.
  7. Not 100% sure I can see what bit of the drawing refers to what you have photographed I am assuming we are looking along the rafter in the drawing view (rafter to SE spec...). Is that the gutter we can see the top of the photo? Sounds like insect mesh is going to be the solution if you need ventilation but you would need to create an approximately flat run to pin it to.
  8. Traffic -on your lane or did they install the meter in the middle lane of the M6?
  9. Yes between papyrus and instagram.
  10. Try leaving it off for a longer period, couple of minutes, just in case some residual voltage is lurking about in some capacitor in there.
  11. No Best leave it unless there is a clear reset button on the outside.
  12. Has the main unit got a reset button / switch hidden behind a tiny hole somewhere. Although looking at the message it implies that some communication blockage has occured there are no switches (network) anywhere in the system - is the panel wired direct to the main unit?
  13. Has it got / is there a flat backup battery somewhere and its lost its settings?
  14. Welcome to THE forum for self builders and like minded individuals. Sketchup is the best for the job you are looking at and can probably take you all the way, so give that a go.
  15. Nope them (you) Germans were and still are good with concrete just now it is used for different purposes.
  16. Is a fixed Delta of 7deg really what is required I wonder. I would have thought that once you reach steady state I think I would expect Dt to be much less than that wouldn't I?
  17. Is there a link somewhere.
  18. I guess the trick is to show that times move on and that they accep things today they would not have accepted 20 years ago- although I can only speculate what that is. Seeing it another way it may be that such measures might be made mandatory so they form part of building control.
  19. Has anybody thought to offer a technology led solution to this, and similar problems. Round here we have dozens of mirrors on trees opposite driveways which is a low tech solution but video could be used with screens and a very wide angle lenses or lidar and the like. On one of our cars the cameras have wide angle lenses that allow me to see both ways down the lane with bumper only a few mm out of the drive. I appreciate the challenges of making this sort of thing possible in all circs but I cannot see that it woukd not be able to help in many places.
  20. Yes the camera takes up one pixel of the screen, so you don't notice it but it could be mega pixel itself although the basic tec is indeed single. Have a look here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.osapublishing.org/viewmedia.cfm%3Furi%3Doe-27-3-3731%26seq%3D0&ved=2ahUKEwiBwrK0lt3lAhXJUBUIHVFuBR0QFjAAegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw1SgP7BXGnZWSlzlJAFifX8 It means you can look directly at the screen rather than a camera of to one side or above. I dimmly recal they are now working on multi single pixel which would make things even better.
  21. Looks like fun what is needed is the 1 pixel camera in the middle of the monitor to make a great digital mirror.
  22. Welcome to THE forum. Just in case there is any confusion / concern you dont need to lay the bricks upside down just because you are on the otherside of the world?. (We are mostly NOT flat earthers here.)
  23. Is it about extrapolation or some such? Cos you know that correlation does not mean .....
  24. As long as your services are in ducts, IE you can replace the cables and water / gas pipes without digging the whole lot up I cannot see a problem. You dont want to have to dig up your drains to get at the water pipe below or even dig up the water pipe to get to the drains, although I assume the drains will be above the ducts, do you!
