Underlying boards showing through render - suggestions?
dogman replied to Bitpipe's topic in Plastering & Rendering
Both the specifications that i had prepared by the manufacturers specified a movement joint at 1st floor joist level. They also stated a 3-5mm gap must be left between the boards for expansion. ProRend did not require taping but Knaff did -

Did they counter batten and were the battens kiln dried. Several manufactures say counter battening is a no no Also some boards need the joints taping before the first coat, were they taped? To me it looks like the board had a tapered edge have you a bit left to see -
Had a look around internet and the best price i can find was £650-675 Where did you see them for £480?

i think it was @Mikey_1980 who recommended the honeywell wireless door bell. I have bought the loudest version and two of the remote PIR's. The doorbell is sat in the shepherds hut and can clearly be heard outside . Anyone now entering can clearly hear that they have tripped some sort of alarm. Alongside the CCTV i hope it will put them off.

It's nice to see the oldbill doing something positive. I didn't even get a visit last time.

IIrc these rads also need a condensation drain fitting I have looked at these before from another manufacturer and have planned to install them upstairs in bedrooms. The ones I looked at needed a 22mm flow and return, power, pump control and condensate drain.

If you get a MVHR with a true summer bypass then no heat is recovered so the temperature that is brought in will be the outside temperature, often cooler overnight. Some MVHR's have an electronic bypass that throttle back the fans instead.

@Barney12 we used slate hooks on the main roof and nails on the lower roof with slate. Did it ourselves so can confirm i had no nail bounce across most of the roof. The only place i had a slight bounce was at the very edge of the eaves ladder and on some of the ends near the valleys. We have same as you in terms of MBC roof

Herts police recover £50,000 of stolen tools
dogman replied to Crofter's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
if you want to make sure your property is identified there are several well known methods checked by the police. Any large plant is on a section of the PNC so your diggers should be registered to you when you buy them. Small plant can go on one of the national registers for free such as TER Mark you tools and record numbers as stated above. However a lot of forces only put the serial number on local systems so if stolen in say Humberside and found in Berkshire there would be no record. Use something like smart water. This is national and all forces check for it these days. A lot of forces do free marking days or even give out free smart water kits. Often best is to engrave with postcode if you can as an area of the tool filed off should raise suspicion. -
Assuming it has actually connected to the hub. you could try a pentest tool such as wifilite that may even pick up clients

@ryder72 i used tebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/antifire?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 they do both 2 and 4 hour collars 150mm

Strange. i just ordered two fire collars for the MVHR pipes. I think we actually need them as it is brick clad timber frame.section of the house. I also ordered a couple of tubes intumescent sealer for the smaller ducts.

you should be past the worst bits so it should get easier. i did hold off posting this I had visions of Brendan under the house with those little plastic wedges. And next time you see him remind him about my tree . He laughed at me jacking it up with car jacks to get it level. -
Correct They did notice but wanted to swap out glass not frames. But to be honest every single window has an issue and we have a senior manager coming out to see us as most are manufacturing issues
-
so are ours for every other window and door Because they have made the three large sliding doors (3m/3m and 4.2m)that can only take 34mm units and delivered 52.8mm glazing units.
-
I understand that the glazing i have has warm edge spacers made by swissspacer, argon filled and the glass is Planitherm low e soft coat according to the stickers on the glass. And above all this they are passive certified

i have found some info on another companies web site . 4-20-4-18-6.8 is a 0.52 centre U value going to 4-14-4-14-6.8 is a centre U value of 0.77.

I really feel your pain -
@Duddadon't ask. Major issues with window company. Trying to fob us off

Thanks @JSHarris i did find an old article on the BRE site that basically stated that a 28mm high spec double glazed unit would out perform a similar spec 3G unit.
