A couple more pics showing window profile detail. Not sure why the cladding looks blue in the 2nd pic. It's all in fact cream white.

What I like about the Thermowood is how stable it is. Every plank we received was pretty much dead straight and very consistently machined.
-
Thanks Barney, the timber cladding is Thermowood treated with a clear UV satin varnish.
-
Slow progress due to a combination of learning curve around window profiles and limited time on site, but it's moving in the right direction.
-
Not quite, the next board up will need a thin strip under the cill, but the cills are easy to remove and screw back on afterwards.

Funnily enough, I was just about to post suggesting Bluewater as that's where we're ordering ours from. They sell via ebay as 'Bathcabz' and seem far better quality and keener price than the usual b&q, Wickes, etc offerings.

Well I've finally started putting the Marley Cedral Click cladding up and thought I'd post a shot of progress. Really pleased with how it looks and seems very easy to use.

CIL Charges
NSS replied to Vel810's topic in Self Build VAT, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), S106 & Tax
If I were you I'd cover my backside by submitting the form and insisting on a reply confirming exemption from the LA before commencing. -
We have a large, electric sectional Novoferm door. Seems to be good quality and no issues so far.

And the supplier won't even arrange a collection if you pay? -

Have you asked the original supplier which courier they use? -
We tried very hard to get a plot with a brook running through it, even did preliminary designs for what we'd have wanted to build on it. That design had the lounge separated from the rest of the house by the brook, with an enclosed glass bridge/corriidor connecting the two. Just couldn't persuade the old couple who owned it to sell.

Hi @RandAbuild - no, as mentioned above we went for a steel/oak/glass staircase. Not expecting delivery until mid June so won't mention the supplier until we've received and are happy with it, but they've been very good to deal with so far.

Okay, south Hampshire so, as you say.... but no worries.

Whereabouts in the country are you Peter? If you're in my neck of the woods I probably have a couple of Paslode IM350 gas cartridges spare, but they're not the kind of thing you can pop in the post!
-
If anyone has one of these lurking in their tool shed and they have no further use for it, I'd be interested in purchasing

That's an incredible amount of work in such a short period. Well done to you and Mrs Nod. Wish our build had progressed that rapidly!

Scandia Hus are worth a try. I believe they have recently opened an office in the south west.

mvhr make and supplier

I've self-installed a Paul Novus 300. Not yet commissioned but should be fairly soon. Was supplied by Green Building Store who've been very helpful. -
Seems there's a 'phoenix from the ashes' company.

Heard this news from someone in the industry a couple of weeks ago. Hope none of this community has been affected.

Rather than start a new topic, can anyone tell me whether dimmable 5050 strip can be controlled from a normal wall dimmer switch? Appreciate it will need to connect via a transformer but hoping to control from wall switch rather than an IR remote.

Yes, I'd have liked to have had it sooner but it took a while to find a supplier who doesn't charge platinum prices for powder-coated steel

Brief (and belated) update. After much deliberation, we've finally ordered a staircase. Had several quotes in the £5.5k to £6.5k range for oak stairs similar to the one I linked to in the first post, but decided we'd really like something more contemporary (even if it meant spending a bit more). Ours will be styled as per the one in the image below, albeit with a double winder. Lead time is 8 to 9 weeks but will hopefully be worth the wait
