Yes they could be reported to trading standards or worse! They urgently need to get some leadership in that company to prevent issues with administration, literature, marketing etc. The science may be good but the command and control seem lacking!

Help with kitchen renovation/ 1st house.
newhome replied to zoothorn's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Par for the course. Mine is induction but I use P or 9 to bring up to temp (gets very hot very fast), drop to 5 for cook / fast simmer and 3 for keep warm. Never use much in between TBH. You don’t really need all of those settings I imagine. I’m no cook tho so maybe someone of cordon bleu standard uses all 10 settings. Leave it be and you’ll get used to it. -
This maybe? Grabbed this off the web. Unfortunately, when it comes to direct cylinders, the parameters and guidelines set out by the EU mean that even a perfect electric cylinder, which never lost any heat, could only ever achieve a maximum of a C-Rating. This is because the EU has stated that electric heating must reflect the inefficiencies of fossil fuelled power generation and therefore applies a multiplier of 2.5 to the electrical usage in the efficiency calculation. That said they can’t advertise A+ and send something out that says C!

Weird. They all say A+ on Sunamp’s website ... https://www.sunamp.com/ scroll down a bit to see. Send them a Tweet and ask since there is no one from Sunamp on here yet. @readiescards maybe you are special ?

Don't see the point of the cardboard TBH. We did have some taped on the ends of the units for a while to prevent them from being knocked when things were being carried through but we didn't have them covering the units. Our plastering was all done throughout the house when the kitchen was fitted however.

+1. Why risk it. You can always flog the dehumidifier afterwards.

I have a recirc one and it's ok. As Peter says just recharge / wash / change the filters. You will be moaning about the draught if you vent the roof! -
Pity you're not closer. I have a ton of oak bits and bobs left over from the build. I actually burnt some of it in the summer ?

That used to be the case but VAT notice 708 was altered in the last few years or so and now site investigation work (as in physical work not a desk exercise or just visiting the site to have a look) ‘should’ be zero rated by inference due to the wording but only once PP is approved or at least others have found that this is the case but that might be their good fortune as it’s very grey in the VAT notice. @Adam2 maybe call it foundation prep or something more closely aligned to the actual build. Failing that maybe ask your foundation supplier to include it as part of their scope of services? Here is the relevant section of the HMRC internal manual that may be useful to read: https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/vat-construction/vconst02500 The number to call is at the top of the first post here (see below). When asked say DIY Housebuilders Scheme and you should be directed to someone who can answer questions without needing to be VAT registered. You may be on hold for a while as the call volumes are always ‘exceptional’ ?.

There is currently a cashback incentive running via MoneySavingExpert that offers a £110 cashback incentive for a £1000+ investment through Ratesetter if you leave the money there for a year. The offer is limited to the first 5000 applications (there are 3000 left as of tonight). I have taken a punt. You have 8 weeks to fund the account once open. Note that you need to go via the MoneySavingExpert link and that your capital is not guaranteed. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/peer-to-peer-lending/#ratesetter

Blending valves set incorrectly? What temperature is the thermal store at? You are going to have to post some photos for people to really help I think. Assume this is the controller?

ASHP and SunAmp cheaper than Oil tank? Confused
newhome replied to Roz's topic in Other Heating Systems
In my simple words (as I don’t understand all of the technical stuff). The UVC is a tank that stores hot water produced by the ASHP. The ASHP also supplies the UFH separately. No electric boiler (probably a back up immersion) as the ASHP acts as the ‘boiler’. -

Nick will help with generic questions on here I’m sure but system specification is part of his day job ? -
ASHP and SunAmp cheaper than Oil tank? Confused
newhome replied to Roz's topic in Other Heating Systems
It also depends whether you can set up the ASHP and Sunamp yourself or you need to employ someone. Neither of these are plug in and play so you may struggle to get someone who can do this at a reasonable cost. I know this from my experience of trying to get someone to fit an ASHP here. It’s much easier to find installers for traditional systems than renewables or new technology. Most installers of ASHPs are MCS certified. This means that they are used to providing quotes for RHI eligible systems that result in big money quotes. Some people on here have installed some really cheap DIY ASHPs but I’m not sure what others have paid for non MCS installs. -

It's just warning you not to touch it because it's hot. It's not a malfunction warning. -
This ruling doesn’t really change any of those scenarios afaik. There are already rules around selling off a garden plot. I don’t think when you put the application in makes much difference tbh. It’s whether it qualifies as your PPR when it is sold that’s important. https://www.taxation.co.uk/Articles/2017/11/28/337311/main-residence-relief-and-gardens This ruling determined that ownership was on exchange of contracts whereas it couldn’t become a PPR until it could be occupied on completion. Now clearly many houses exchange before completion but we are talking nearly 3 years here and the house was only occupied by the buyer for 2 years so no doubt he came to the attention of HMRC. Given the date of sale (2 years to the day since he moved in you do have to wonder if he thought 2 years would ‘save’ him). It does need some thought however if self builders are going to purchase a plot for a self build. Given this ruling it may be prudent to move to the plot (or finished house) within 2 years of purchase to avoid this scenario. There hasn’t been a test case with a self builder however, but I doubt if there could be a distinction between self build and developer build.

Change it to a link rather than embed because embed takes you to the first post but a link takes you to the post you want to reference. Yeah it’s crap but them’s the breaks.

@Declan52 mine used to empty a 475l tank constantly before @Nickfromwales and @PeterW came up and sorted it out. It clearly wasn't set up properly (I'm not entirely sure what was wrong with it but it works now). The manifolds called for heat when all of the zones were switched off and the hot water just seemed to disappear. It's probably not the same issue for @Christine Walker but clearly something needs to be sorted. Yes Christine get the bugger back out to sort it! They charge enough for these MCS installs!!
