I pretty much do too at present but forget sometimes and then it takes ages to load. I have unlimited data on the phone. Got everything unlimited in the Black Friday offer from Three for £20 a month. That said I have taken the plunge and have ordered superfast fibre that is supposed to be upgraded over Xmas. I have taken a bit of a risk as both my neighbours have tried and were without broadband for a couple of weeks as it got screwed up. I need mine for work so I hope it can be sorted either to upgrade or revert by the time I go back to work in the new year.

I think you take the record for the post that takes the longest to load @ultramods due to all the photos ?.

Looks great! Glad you've got good trades. Makes such a difference. Looking forward to seeing how things progress (hopefully in smaller chunks the next time around ).

Welcome Tamara. If you post in the thread about the spreadsheet those who posted back then may see it and reply. I seem to remember that a couple of them offered to share a spreadsheet to use. Whereabouts is your build and what are you planning to build?

TBH we had acres of cardboard everywhere. Laid on floors, taped to the kitchen units, bannisters, doors etc just to prevent damage whilst things were still getting done.

The OH put one of those constantly changing colour bulbs in the extension because he knew it would annoy me lol. It does, and every time I look at it, it reminds me of him -
Have you really never seen the 3 acres of it that @Onoff has all over his bathroom? https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/topic/7865-pp-conditions/?tab=comments#comment-133494

Wickes and B&Q should deliver it or you could use MDF potentially and cut and paint it. Anything like that will be susceptible to moisture so you could put a strip along the bottom to at least protect the bottom of it. Something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1pc-x-High-Quality-Stick-Kitchen-Plinth-Seal-Clear-2-5m-Length-Sealing-Strip/153081175291?epid=15021056698&hash=item23a4595cfb:g:vpYAAOSwc15bN35y:rk:16:pf:0 or https://www.trade-point.co.uk/departments/homelux-plinth-seal-w-18mm-l-1830mm/97784_TP.prd# Or there might be a cheaper / better way. Plinth fitting (can't remember if your cabinets have legs though - if not the fittings will be different). You can add the lights afterwards as long as you don't mind taking the plinth off again once fitted to cut the holes for the lights etc. You'll need some way of powering them too. Plenty of videos on YouTube - search for plinth lights. -
I think the version we had was fighting over who got to ride over the cobblestones!

You would. There would be close up photos on here magnified to show the single rough edge so that you could berate yourself for it not being perfect - just sayin .... -

You could just buy new cheap plinths (check sizes but might be pretty universal) https://www.diy.com/departments/kitchen/kitchen-cabinets/trims-plinths-and-panels/plinth/_/N-rnkZ1z0n95s -

Yep, gaps at corners of walls etc. Anywhere where you want to fill then paint small gaps. -

It’s for decorating. Fills holes / gaps that you want to paint over instead of using silicone. -
worst area for building control /planning in UK
newhome replied to scottishjohn's topic in Building Regulations
It really varies but I’ve had building control here who have been great, the last guy who came for example was really accommodating and pragmatic, and the plumber said ‘thank God you’ve got him and not ....’. I have also had someone who didn’t even seem to know the regs. He told me that the floor level to the extension wouldn’t be signed off and the only way of accommodating it was a completely structural change. I had no idea how I was going to tackle that but when the other guy came out he looked and said there was nothing wrong with it at all. Luck of the draw maybe. -
Welcome! Sounds like a great project and there is a wealth of expertise to be found from the forum members. Looking forward to seeing how things progress.
