the roofers I used just lapped it over and then cut a slit with a knife. You can feel the breeze from inside.

it isn't enough for 40mm pushfit pipe to be fixed behind it (the bracket holds the pipe out of the wall a bit). I dug away into the plasterboard. Why they do this I don't understand.

Shared Driveway Access Issues
CC45 replied to mediumbuild's topic in House Extensions & Conservatories
went round to mine tonight & found the developer building behind us has blocked my driveway by parking a tarmacing machine across our drive. Took photos, did my work & left. Why rise to such a childish thing. More important things in life. His mobile phone contract must be very expensive if he can't afford to ring me on it. -
Hi James, very impressive - any chance we could have a blow by blow 'how to' account - we really like what you've done.... CC

We have a 140mm timber frame, I filled it with 140mm celotex - dont. Use 130mm because it isn't accuate enough so I had to trim some of them which is a real pain. I tried my best to get them tight - most you couldn't get a credit card down but if I did it again I would get them roughly there, pin them in place and then spary foam them in tight. Air tight barrier then with some 25mm battons as service runs. Most of these battons were infilled with 25mm celotex - so we have got 165mm in total. This summer the house has been cooler than the outside with the windows left adjar over night. Now temps have dropped - it is warmer inside. Far more noise comes in through the windows than the walls. We have got a 50mm cavity with a brick outer skin. Celotex takes a long time to install - not sure I'd bother again - I'd rather pay a few hundred more in heating bills tbh. If I was building panels myself then I would prob use it but still use foam and then some ply to seal it all.

They took some away & left others, took about 7 or 10 days to get replacements - if they have them in stock it might be quicker. With the rise in lockdown orders I think some of their QC has slipped a little. Just putting ours in now, no issues. -
it does look good. £10 extra or so aint a lot extra - 2 beers or so......

yep.

I've used it for tile adhesive, SLC, brick laying mortar etc I'd sell the missus before I got rid of this piece of kit.
-
got one of these - brilliant.

yep, waste pipe is in front of the hot & cold supply. You need to take the PB layer off and maybe a bit of the insulation. I tidied it all up before the unit went in (more insulation etc) but it gives you an idea. The bottom pipe feeds an external tap - I wanted to be able to drain it from inside the house hence the drain plug.

Front gates...Advice needed.

this takes me back nearly 40 years to secondary school...... where does time go to? -
If its stable now and you don't trash the footing why not just build on the existing footing? Are the trees pushing it over?
-
interesting debate here - we have looked at laminate and then Quartz / Granite. I'd put in laminate but I'm told that our house needs something posher. I don't really want to spend the extra TBH. Setting the kitchen units up now - is there a standard depth for Quartz / Granite? Just in case we end up with it..... @ryder72 - what are the makes of quality laminate? Do any look more like quartz / granite?
-
OK, not had any company involved so not seen that detail before.
-
agreed - I wasn't talking about the vapour aspects of PIR. I was just wondering about the temperature of the vapour as it 'flows' through the wall, where will the dew point occur? Will it be within the wall structure? Need @Jeremy Harris to chip in on this I think. I'm sure the outside layer should have the highest insulation value fo rthis reason. I could be wrong.
-
looks ok to me (not an expert). The only thought I have is about the PIR on the inside of the rockwool - if you are layering different types of insulation aren't you meant to have the best insulator on the outside? This could be complete rubbish but its in my head for some reason. Others more informed than me will know the truth I'm sure...

Our arrives 2 weeks ago - well packaged. They give you 7 to 10 days to check them all & inform them of any issues. I wouldn't leave them unchecked. I had 3 queries about mine - replacement units are on their way. Good service. -
@NickB Interesting thread here - Once its finalised could you upload it? Looking to improve what we've done this time in the next one....

the metal web ones we had put in at 600mm centres I wish we had put them at 400mm centres...... I like a nice solid floor.

Sounds tricky tbh. Power from a garage? w

our pressure went up & down a lot with what I thought was small changes in temp. Suspect that's what going is going on with yours. You bleed off some water & then when the weather cools it drops even further!

Looks tidy. Decorators caulk won't like any wet on it - its not silicone. What about some wood filler? https://www.screwfix.com/p/ronseal-high-performance-wood-filler-natural-550g/51811
