  1. will do when its in place - been distracted by tiling at the minute. Just hang in there for a wee while
  2. just doing this now - the silencer (solid) is going between the unit and the distribution box - can't see why you would want it between the unit & outside.
  3. I use metal back boxes - I like the solid feel of them when putting plugs in/out but they do take a lot more time than drylining boxes. If it wasn't my house I'd use the plastic back boxes.

I wish I knew what all this is about........ Realise how inadequate I am on some things.

thats why led head torches were invented for. Got mine out this week - great to have an old friend back....
  6. hi @ProDave thats the one I tried to link to - its just the others had 3XX with XX = amps and this one is 145 thats all. Will get it ordered now. Cheers.
  7. guessing @ProDave is the man for this query... Going to order some Hagar RCBO's, I need an additional two for ring mains (32a) & one for the cooker discussed above (10mm2 cable) - 45A. The two 32a seem simple enough since the sparky put some in last time he checked my work (https://www.edwardes.co.uk/products/hager-ada332g-32a-30ma-b-curve-rcbo-type-a-ac-and-pulsating-dc-sensitive-) and I will just buy two the same. The cooker - I was going to fit a 45A RCBO - is this the correct one? https://www.edwardes.co.uk/products/hager-ada145g-45a-30ma-b-curve-rcbo-type-a-ac-and-pulsating-dc-sensitive- Just getting unsure because the numbers are a bit different to the 32A ones. Can anyone confirm the 45a one is the right one? Cheers
  8. just in the process of doing this - just thought this was a very generous piece of advice - thanks @JSHarris
  9. Mine is now on quarterly renewals - its been 4 years since we started. Same annual price but just 4 times a year - a right pain more than anything. 3 years wasn't a prob so can't see you having too many issues.
  10. How much are they?
  11. After our experience I'd allow £4k for 250m2 house. A lot depends on complexity - Q a lot of dormers and curved ceilings. labour for skim only.

    margin?!

so what are the quality grid switch brand currently? Clickmode?
  13. I've used them to convert 16mm into 15mm Hep2O for rads (fed from ufh manifold). No issues with them at all.
  14. https://www.screwfix.com/p/mk-13a-fuse-unit-grid-module-white/74950?_requestid=720706 £7.85 There's taking the p*** and really taking the P***. The quality of it all is shoddy to be frank. How much would this be per kg? Must be worth more than gold.
  15. Freestanding modern double ended bath 1700mm Duke by Voda design BMF306DW. £415 + VAT From Bathshop 321.
  16. thats a lot more than I paid for just supply. Wunda supplied ours - 145m2 of UFH @ a cost of £1,213 + VAT (May 2016).
  17. so I've tiled all our bathrooms / ensuites (3 of them) - floors, walls, trim etc etc. I'm not a tiler so it took a while but it looks good (a pro tiler's comments - not my own opinion) - up to @Onoff standards I'd say... Its Q a few m2. So to downstairs, 100m2 of floor tiling to do - poured screed floor that's level and in general nice big areas; much bigger tiles as well. But I've got a full time job so tiling would happen at weekends and evenings BUT there's plenty else to do - 2nd fix elecs to do, bathroom furniture to fit & plumb in, skirting to fit, whole house to paint etc etc so I thought I'd ask about getting a pro tiler in to do downstairs. How does £25/m2 sound for applying primer, spreading adhesive, tiles down, grouting and cleaning? It seems to be about 7m2/day and using 600x600 tiles that doesn't seem a lot to me. He's a one man band so he does everything - cutting tiles, mixing adhesive etc. I thought the cost could be rebadged as an early Xmas gift to myself..... Any thoughts?
  18. ours is 1700 long and plenty long enough for me - 6ft bloke. I don't think you need a longer free standing bath. Ours cost £490 - purchased it online, local merchants were virtually twice this. Try a few out.

I'd only use old cement by mixing it in with new stuff - plenty of new vs old. Its not that expensive.

is the bathroom actually totally finished?
  21. you register when you arrive and are then free to go around yourself. Staff are about and will offer some help & guidance. They also have pc's running their design software so take dimensions with you. You can pick up colour samples of both doors and cabinets.
  22. we went there last Wednesday - you need 2 - 3 hrs there for a good look around. Interesting.
  23. we used these. https://www.tfmsuperstore.co.uk/products/bottle-gully-110mm-inc-grid/ Just lift the grid and clean out occasionally.
  24. @Onoff and then cleaned them off using brick acid? or did you lay them so cleanly that there wasn't a mark on the bricks?? Is the linseed applied neat? using a rag I assume?
