Crates or tunnels really don't work, the water/effluent not in enough contact with soil, and they won't let you do them. You probably don't need as much space as you think. Go 900mm gravel filled trenches, they should let you do 1m between each (edge), if you herringbone it helps a lot on space. Remember that if it's a treatment plant the magic figure is .2 not .25. Check out flows and loads 4. I have to do one for a 3 bed + 3 bed +2 bed, all in one, they will let me do it as 12 population but I will size it up a little.

Rubber Roof Ladder (Or was it a dream?)

As chair of governors at a school I once had to source school uniform suppliers! -

I'm following you closely on this one. I had narrowed my choice down to the same two. My inclination is to the Biopure (feels better designed and as far as I can make out longer emptying intervals) but the Vortex has other merits: adjustable (I am connecting three properties, at least one of which, half of the population, is a seasonal let); possibly easier to put in, straight sided hole just backfill with sand rather than gravel; has built in sampling point and outlet higher than inlet: better positioning in soil – less deep, I have no running water near me). Don't like the above soil bit for blower on Vortex though. Might end up tossing a coin

Last place I had they put in 20mm quartz with an extra 20mm bit at the front under so it looked like 40mm. Worked well.

Mineral & Mining rights indemnity insurance
mafaldina replied to Grosey's topic in Self Build Mortgages
I live in Cornwall and have owned several houses. Previous ones, mining rights owned by Bassets. This one, at Wheal Clifford (the oldest mine that eventually made up Consolidated Mines) was owned by Williams' but now Rio Tinto. I have never been asked for indemnity, all, or at least most of Cornwall land underneath has mining rights owned by someone other than yourself. Argue this, who is your lender? Maybe Steamy Tea can come in on this and add his ha'penny. -

You've been watching this, mind you there was an episode of the Simpsons/American Dad, etc... that showed the opposite, where kids wanted old fashioned jerry (apologies recoveringacademic) built one.

Hello, welcome back so to speak.

Dutch company, good reputation in the Netherlands. Generally low prices, PlumbCenter seems to be one of their main outlets in UK. Used to only supply to a GasSafe registered engineers, not sure if this is still the case. Add in all the extras (flues, controllers etc) to give you real price as these are not included and can bump the price up considerably. The A range, launched in 2008 now superseded by IS range (c.2014/15). Check warranty!

The Great Thermal Mass Myth................
mafaldina replied to Jeremy Harris's topic in Boffin's Corner
If you use Chrome download the Care your Eyes extension. A lot of dyslexic students use this to get the best background colour for their individual needs.- 122 replies

The Great Thermal Mass Myth................
mafaldina replied to Jeremy Harris's topic in Boffin's Corner
(I do have a 7th impossible thing, get the effing forum colours sorted out, it has taken me an hour to type up and I have a migraine now, all it needs is a pale grey or pale blue background where you type, that cannot be hard to sort out). Try turning your screen brightness down a tad.- 122 replies

If possible to offset the mirror from the wall a tad I would tuck an led strip of mini lights, warm white, just in behind the edge so the light comes out of the narrow space around. Hope that makes sense. A bit like Declan's lower pic, but tighter space and less offset (only need 10-15mm), it would mean remaking your 'frame'.

Ventilated cold roof - can it ever be airtight?
mafaldina replied to Stones's topic in General Construction Issues
That's what I was thinking of doing, mainly because I have 'inherited' the roof construction – shallow W. -
Helen Danter is my oldest friend, we shared an enormous Victorian pram as babies.

Anywhere near Edinbane?

Here in Cornwall they never seem to pressure test. My experience is a guy comes in with sunglasses on (bright day), falls into drain trench (thus disturbing) and says ok. Addendum to this, if your BCO thinks you know what you are doing they tend to leave you alone,

Extra Long Flexible Tap Connectors
mafaldina replied to Onoff's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Flexi connectors are the work of the devil. Do it all in copper (problem if you've got taps that won't work with it, ie no copper tails!), do it properly and it won't leak. Flexis always leak eventually, in fact disintegrate. I'm sure Nick will back me up on this. Best, Mafalda -
My advice would be if you don't need it to secure/satistify mortgage, do it yourself. `nasty job, but you will do it properly. I defy you to find a company that doesn't do a name change on regular basis, thus negating guarantee. Best, Mafalda
-
Probably is. Don't do it if you are on clay, it will bind and make more cluggy (technical term?) useful for cabbages, break it up into small pieces and don't use much. Best, Mafalda

Nickfromales is here, wonderful chap. What I don't understand is how he has any time to work... (is this site typo savvy and does ellipsis? Looks like it) Welcome back Daikin. Money is always an issue, especially the longer it takes, as living/functioning elsewhere eats into it. Best, Mafalda
