  1. Yeah kitchens can get expensive if you go to wrong place. Mine including stone worktops cost around £6400 inc appliances, and i fitted it.
  2. I'm just in the middle of a very similar project, just completed the new kitchen, and the new dining room is getting taken back to block this weekend.
  3. No thats stuff is OK, its got what they call Ecose Technology, low itch. So you avoid compressing the insulation, which will make it perform much worse, add some 25x50 (roofing battens) to the tops of the joists before you put the floorboards down. Cheap as chips, and it'll make sure the insulation performs to its best
  4. Sheffield Solid Surfaces (SSS) where i got mine from used some sheets of plastic to template the room, and made a complete mock up, with all cuts. With regards the undermount sink, they need to know the model number of the sink you want, SSS already had a jig made up for this sink, but they took the sink with them to ensure a perfect fit, so ensure you have it available. Sink itself is glued to the underside of the tops, and then there are little blocks which were epoxied on, they look like some sort of stone, possibly marble, stunk to high heaven for a good couple of days. With regards to the type of unit it fits in, there are minimum width units for the varying sinks, i'm sure you will have checked you had the right one. Mine is an 800mm wide, and theres not a huge amount of space either side the bowls.
  5. I wouldn't go on the time of year they fruit, my autumn fruiting 'Polka' Canes are fruiting already, ate a couple yesterday, climate change is sending everything crackers
  6. Nearly there! Just waiting for DIY Kitchens to come and fit the mechanism for cupboard doors on the oven unit.
  7. Yeah, that dawned on me when i'd hauled it in, its behind the fridge. Going to make full documentation for all the house so whoever will know where it all is located. Socket has been there for the last 11 years to be fair, never thought about it back then! Yep, theres a 40mm gap all way along the back, and same at the top of the unit, and will put a vent plate in the kickboard once I cut them. Also cut some circular holes in the 'false floor' i had to make for further ventilation. ? Just finished doing all the door kit, bloody hell that took some effort!
  8. Brill, thought i was going mad! This is what I’ve ended up with and got a bit of infill left which I’ll cut another day just need to swap door direction over and put fitting kit on it next! thanks for reply
  9. I'm not sure whether i've just not had enough sleep or if there is genuinly a problem here... So had the fridge cabinet a while, 50/50 ordered and thats what the label said on the back... Fridge came today, 50/50 fridge, placed it in the cabinet, and then realised that the doors don't line up. So the bottom door of the cabinet comes up about 70mm too much over the fridge door, which definitely isn't right?! So then i started thinking, crap i've obviously ordered the wrong sized fridge, to discover that they are all standard size, so can't be that. Had a look at some install videos online, and they don't see to have anything under the fridge to raise it up. There were 2 shelves delivered with the cabinet, one is for above the fridge, but couldn't understand what the other was for. Some friends sent me a photo of theirs, and theirs is sat on both the cabinet and one of these shelves, so that explains where that goes, and thats 18mm, I could use some 4x2 for the other 50mm?? Just doesn't seem right somehow... Any ideas? First time i've done on of these integrated ones.
  10. I got an extension for mine to plumb into kitchen waste, so that I only have a single penetration through the structure, runs under the units and then up the back of sink unit, seems to work quite well.
  11. Yeah I could only go on what they told me. It seems the quartz i've got is from both Spain and Asia, but made by Consentino (IQ), the people who make silestone, and my colour is from Asia, so no idea if thats a good or bad thing! Was around £600 more than what i would have paid for a similar Innova top.
  12. Thats good to hear, maybe the place I used gave me the scare story! Always hard to tell.
  13. Looking at the size of the facade, i'd say expansion gap, should be every 6m. Gaps above the french doors, will be for weep vents, though why there is random size and place gaps further to the right is beyond me, thats poor workmanship
  14. So this one has been 10 years in the making, which is when I originally built this extension, and not long after i'd built it, the outdoor bunny became an indoor bunny! So the glorified rabbit hutch has now become the kitchen it was intended to be. Worktops just been installed. Will crack on with tap, dishwasher, hob, and oven later this week. Really pleased with it all, just need to choose some paint, but will sort that in the autumn, as I've got the old kitchen to rip out and the room to bare brick, and floor to replace first!
  15. Just had a delivery by DPD Local with two doors which were missing, well packed but one had the corner snapped off, so need another replacement! Apparently they are coming with replacement unit today so why they couldn’t just attach them to the new unit and bring it all together I’ll never know edit: the replacement unit never turned up! Sent them another message but doubt I’ll get a reply til Monday at earliest
  16. Thats good. It was the guy at SSS who told me that, so who knows whether it is true or not, didn't seem like a sales strategy to me, as he wasn't bothered either way whether i bought from them or not. @ryder72 I don't think anyone is expecting perfection, indeed i would have been more surprised if there hadn't have been any issues, but for an already damaged unit to be wrapped and shipped with 2 doors clearly missing is totally avoidable. And at the end of the day, we all accept problems, and just want them sorting out swiftly so we can carry on with our lives.
  17. I noticed plaster had dramatically gone up in price, even bonding coat, which you can still get. Drywall adhesive is non-existant too. Is there a plant in scotland? I noticed the only stores which have got stock (and lots of stock) for Wickes and B&Q are in scotland, nothing anywhere round here.
  18. In my case, the damaged unit was wrapped perfectly, I suspect it was wrapped damaged, I think the problem here is lack of quality control, but that will be to 'save costs' though likely costs them more in the long run. I wonder how many 100% perfect deliveries they actually make
  19. I've used Sheffield Solid Surfaces for the worktop, be warned about Natural Stone Surfaces, if you aren't buying a branded product (i.e. Silestone) its likely a cheap chinese import you are buying, and apparently they are on the verge of going out of business
  20. I have bought a door ready for integrated, but will be using existing standalone dishwasher for now, as its almost brand new, save a bit of money, so won't find out if this is an issue or not for some time.
  21. Looking very smart, loving the attention to detail!
  22. Welcome! Hope your mind can be changed on the ecological disaster that is artificial turf!
  23. I noticed on their information pages, it tells you to ask your fitter to quote for a second remedial visit as part of the job, which seems quite a bad thing to put on your website. I think, as with a lot of things, if you want something cheap, you have to work harder for it, or wait.
  24. Majority of it came fine, just one of the tall units was totally damaged and missing 2 doors. Logged it with them, they've acknowledged it, but have already gone over their 5 working day replacement timescale. Sent another message yesterday, but not heard anything back so far. Hopefully doesn't go on too long! Luckily i can get worktop installed, as this is first unit after the worktop finishes, very annoying though as i can't get on with anything else til this gets replaced so i can finish the job. Think i'd have been more surprised if everything had turned up spot on, never happens these days. EDIT: They must have been listening, just had email to say its getting delivered tomorrow. See what happens
  25. You may have an opportunity for a double height space for the stair too. If no wardrobes in bedroom 2, move that wall back flush with doorway to give more space to bed 1, put en-suite on the wardrobe wall in bed 1, and wardrobes on the stair wall. Appreciate that would likely mean moving the stack to another location, but just something to think about. Seems to be what most architects go for these days to really open the stair up.
