  1. Yeah stop start is rather pointless too! ? Opening the door for any length of time will mean the heat escapes, regardless of whether the fan is on or off at the time, and the longer its open, the greater the temperature drop
  2. Slide and Hide looks fancy, but surely just means you are going to lose more heat from the cavity since it will take longer to open/close the door? Standard for me, less to go wrong too.
  3. Sorry I never got any further with this. I did find that eurocell no longer sell the glass which allows 0.81U as per their brochure, they now use AG Glass which I think came in at around 1.0U, so its probably better to go to a wholesaler so that you can pick and choose frame and glass.
  4. Yeah its a good one, where this came from
  5. Sorry just realised that didn't even include the u-value! It came out at 0.23U
  6. Blocks will be 215mm, look to be aircrete from the photo. u-value will be as follows:
  7. I know me too, thats half my problem! I've pondered battery storage for the past 4 years lol
  8. That would be possible technically. I'll have a ponder about it
  9. I thought about that too, but for the cost and complication it seemed a waste, i barely use any hot water anyway, like literally about £2 in gas per month's worth. For me it would make more sense to bring electric usage down. I suppose the gamble is whether future prices will drop, from past experience electric and gas tend to go up but not come back down again
  10. I've nothing currently to divert it to, don't have a hot water tank, it would have to be a battery. Its something i've thought about for a long time, now electric prices have shot up its more feasible, was hoping prices may come down a bit and tech may improve, but that hasn't happened yet. My only niggle at the moment is the standing charge which has also shot up!
  11. I export a silly amount of my generation, probably around 75% looking at the figures on my smart meter since april. Whats the reasoning behind isolating battery discharge? is that for DNO compatability? I'd like battery storage available during the day too to cover additional loading above generation if possible as part of the solution. The existing solar array and inverter would have to remain unchanged for the FiT to remain.
  12. Couple of points... Your 100mm studs, should be installed with 75mm foil PIR to give a 25mm air gap to the inside so the foil works. Don't put a vapour barrier on either side. The Foil will act as the barrier, just tape over the studs with foil tape.
  13. Can you have a second non-fit install without disturbing anything for the FiT? I've a nice south facing utility which could house 6 panels, could go hybrid inverter and maybe battery, but can it all be linked into the existing panels too for energy storage? or too complicated? I guess a DNO application would be needed too over 4kWp?
  14. Have a look here: https://www.itstechnologies.shop/collections/single-solar-panel-order/single-panel
  15. Kinda… South Yorkshire ?
  16. Fingers crossed for you. I've used only 1/3rd of the amount of gas (m3) this October compared to last October (pending monthly statement from Zog) Tado is telling me Oct 2020 - 92hrs 29mins heating Oct 2021 - 8hrs 24 heating And i've definitely not been cold! Also just dropped the flow temperature to 50C from 55C which should further reduce usage, 55C was too much of a hit when it turned on.
  17. You don't seem to have much luck with your plumbing do you?! Hope its sorted soon, be very interested to know how the EWI performs compared to last year
  18. I'd forgotten just how nice it is to have carpet!! Just one more piece of furniture and some shelves to go in the left hand alcove. Also decided to drop the coffee table in favour of the nest of tables...may sell it later down the line as i've not got anywhere else for it to go
  19. I used a local chap based in Barnsley for my privately paid for party wall insulation a couple of years back, not sure how far he would travel though. I will PM you his details
  20. Unfortunately i'd say thats the going price for these type companies, but what you want can be done a LOT cheaper by a good joiner
  21. Looking stunning! You must be extremely pleased especially for that price
  22. Window will still be the coldest part, even in the best house. From what I’ve learnt, the effect of cooler air pushing down and hot air rising, causes the mixture of both to push into the room rather than just rising up, going along the ceiling and dropping as it cools, which should result in higher levels of comfort in theory
  23. My C-studs are connected to the floor and ceiling using the U-channels, it doesn't touch the party wall at all.
  24. Even with a parge coat you'll likely get cracking on aircrete blocks. I'd go even further than this, and use a parge coat with embedded mesh, this may give a little more resilience.
