  1. It's a thing of beauty!
  2. Excellent. I've managed to find a coupe of sets of great grandparents. They're not actually mine in a paternal sense but that's not in your T&C's. Now when do I get my boiler? E&OE
  3. Yep, I get that. But what defines the term "buffer"? Sorry if I'm being thick
  4. Thanks Terry. So how will you heat the water for your UFH? I.e. In what sort of store? Or some sort of inline immersion?
  5. As I just posted on the Sunamp thread. We fitted one of these in our little flat. https://www.plumbnation.co.uk/site/zip-aquapoint-iii-unvented-80l-water-heater--multiple-outlet-/?gclid=CO6sr4bj4s8CFRdmGwodpQ0G5A We've found it to be really good and it means we had no restrictions on taps etc and a simple shower mixer. Ill be honest and say I have no idea what the standing loses of the unit is so can't really comment on its efficiency in that regard.
  6. Im still favouring the idea of: ASHP to heat a thermal store (buffer? Not sure I completely understand the difference ! @Nickfromwales Help!!) to a level that ensures maximum COP. Which then feeds a) low temp underfloor heating b) a Sunamp which will boost the temperature for DHW. I assume the store will need an immersion to provide a legionella avoiding boost. BUT, the simplicity of just the Sunamp for UFH and DHW is attractive. I can cope with simple I should add that our DHW requirement is fairly low with just two of us. Our current little flat is served by a 80ltr Zip Aquapoint III electric unvented water heater. https://www.plumbnation.co.uk/site/zip-aquapoint-iii-unvented-80l-water-heater--multiple-outlet-/?gclid=CO6sr4bj4s8CFRdmGwodpQ0G5A and although on 24/7 it provides more than enough oomph for two morning showers and the breakfast dishes!
  7. Thanks. Considering the simplicity of install (as I understand it) and removal of some expensive components such as tanks and ASHP then it could be very viable provided you have a reasonable PV array.??
  8. You did indeed but to work out the price you would need to know the cost of a single unit which unless I'm being blind isn't readily available?
  9. Bend up the corners and turn it into a skip?
  10. Its certainly made my head ache. Even SWMBO said over breakfast "What the **** is that rubbish".
  11. A big humbug?? but being serious that sort of idea might be fine but always do a sample board before committing to an entire building!
  12. I'm inclined to agree with the above. Unless you spend a decent amount of money you are going to get a pile of flimsy crap which won't last the length of your build. Once you get get into the realm of a well made shed you may as well buy a site cabin second hand and then sell it on. Look after it and you'll likely get most of your money back.
  13. I'm not sure I completely follow what your describing but to remove mortar you'd normally use a mortar rake on a grinder. If if you wanted a bit more control then you could use a multi tool (like a Fien Multimaster) with a carbide rasp. Something like: https://fein.com/en_uk/oscillators/accessories/cutting-filing/carbide-rasp-order-no-6-37-31-002-21-0/
  14. +1
  15. So is that just DHW? Or will it feed any space heating?
  16. Feck! Will guests be presented with a map when they arrive or are you using GPS?
  17. Or eventually link it to your smart electric meter so that your provider can charge you a higher/lower unit rate based on usage and time of day. "We're charging you 100% more per unit for your tumble dryer as its not got an efficiency rating of A and you used it at a peak time". Cynical me?
  18. I like your thinking. A couple of blocks laid and claim all the credit by the way....just how big is your house? looks huge!!
  19. Paint it black and it will look just like last nights Grands Design
  20. Yes, I thought so too. The comment that they now consider Sunamp as being suitable as the ONLY heat source for DHW and heating demand was new to me. The removal of the need for any form of water store is an interesting one and appealing but I'm not sure I fully understand it all. Presumably you'd need at least two inputs and at least two temperature controllable outlets? Could you in theory feed a low temp underfloor heating circuit from water heated from the heat exchange in a sunamp? @Nickfromwales might know?
  21. I have a wifey kettle. Its voice activated. "Eh wifey, make me a cup of tea". See, simples! Edit: OK, it does have a number of faults and can be quite erratic at times but I don't have enough time to list all these issues.
  22. ....come on everyone. I got up especially early to sit back and watch the action. It's now 08:19 and nuttin'
  23. New video on Sunamp from the guys at Fully Charged:
  24. Bugger, is that all. It's my school report all over agaIn "must try harder"
