  1. If there isn't much flex you could always put some scrim tape into that corner junction. Then once you put tile adhesive over it it will tie the corner in. A bit of no nails can't hurt either I guess.
  2. Would you beleive my wife actually subscribes to the course towel idea! They're not even allowed near fabric softener. Apparently they aren't better for you and dry you more effectively.
  3. LMAO. NO that's an icecream!! Try Kitchen Maid
  4. I'm waiting for @recoveringacademic To come along with his grinder and suit of armour
  5. I think you need to use the bbcode from the share link on Flickr. Trying....... Yep that works.
  6. Good news! Edit: well for you anyway, not so much your Makita clutch. But you can replace those easier and cheaper than limbs
  7. +1 on a condensing dryer. I converted SWMBO over to one a few years ago and it works fine. +1 on the utility extractor. Absolutely pointless. I don't think ours has ever been on in any of our houses.
  8. @Onoff as we've been discussing attempting to decapitate ourselves on another thread just a cautionary note about using SDS to drill cores rather than a proper core drill. You stand the real risk of the TCT catching and spinning the drill round, the diamond drills have a slower speed and different clutch to prevent that. Don't underestimate the force in which that drill will spin in your hands, more than enough to dislocate your shoulder, sprain your wrist or throw you into a heap if you let go. Ask me how I know . If you are going to use the sds then SLOW and STEADY but honestly do what @Nickfromwales said and pop down the hire shop !
  9. I've always spaced my plasterboard screws at roughly 300mm. No idea if that's 'standard' but nothing's ever fallen off
  10. That is how I had interpreted it. Ideally you want to the tile to be no more than 50% into the gutter but I'm inclined to agree with your contractor that the run off on a relatively small roof area would in most cases not cause an issue provided you're not in an exposed (wind or rain) area. BUT, you would be justified in demanding a 100mm (or 125mm) gutter as its not "right". I guess it depends how much you want to argue with your contractor (and how much the job is costing).
  11. Just put it under the stairs, you (or the wife) will only fill the space with crap you don't need anyway
  12. I doubt it has improved much from then!
  13. You really want to clean it off if you can. White Spirit might work but you'll probably be better with an acidic cleaner if its cement/mortar. Start with a VERY mild dilution and DONT get the surface too wet, damp cloth at the most. I'd use 0000 wire wool so you get in the grain. I might even try simple sugar soap first as the light abrasiveness combined with the wire wool might be all it needs. Without seeing it its hard to be specific.
  14. Why not just go for an electric towel rad with a runback controller? That way you can control the time on and heat level. Something like: http://www.dealec.co.uk/acatalog/dimplex-cpt-compact-towel-rails.html We had something similar in our last place, UFH kept the rooms nice and warm and so the only function of the towel radiator was to erm.....dry towels which they do just fine
  15. Ordered one of these. Worth a punt at £50! Cheap Cheap Cheap!
  16. Dead link (copied from the eBay app by any chance?) Try this one: Linky
  17. Or...... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genset-Lighting-Tower-Generator-700-VAT-/262628281225
  18. Ive got one of those little 10w jobs. Perfectly fine for going in the loft or working in a confined space. Battery life only a couple of hours or so though. Mine came from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B017OPR8LM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 if buying again I'd probably go for the 20w.
  19. ???? http://www.powertoolworld.co.uk/bosch-gli-portaled-136-professional-l-boxx-joblight and it's a useful box to keep your chargers in
  20. Thats exceedingly unfair on MrP I'll pay £50 for one
  21. Simples! http://cpc.farnell.com/europa-components/stbdr0-5m/din-rail-slttd-top-hat-35x7-5mm/dp/MC02357 99p!
  22. Mine came from TLC: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Boxes_and_Enclosures_Index/Mitras_Meter_Box/index.html
  23. Is it just me or has our resident plumber turned into Nick Knowles?
  24. If you watch all the "usual" build/renovate/auction programs all seem to suggest that in a house of your type leaving the bathroom downstairs is perfectly acceptable and normal. The addition of a WC upstairs if practicle though would definitely be a good plus.
