you got a photo of the ventilation strip detail? Sounds interesting and I can;t picture it in my head

Space them all out evenly with the same number of beams, cut every single block for the floor then come back and say now I see why they space them to block dimensions!

That's what my plumber covers all his drops in.

Not to rub salt into the wound just an opposite experience. Fitting a roof 2 months ago. All the rear mono trusses were about 1" out of square between ceiling chord and vertical piece. Spoke to and emailed manufacturer at 12pm. They said they will replace, I said fine but it can't hold the job up. Literally 7am next morning new monos were delivered! all depends on supplier I suppose. As has been said we all make mistakes it's how we sort them that counts.

You will lay 2 layers across the same area pretty quickly. In reality it probably wouldn't take you twice the time of 1 layer

Used sovereign before but have to buy 5 gal I think. Dries in hours

I had preferred Earthwood type insulation between rafters on recent job. However roof bracing spec on pitched section specified ply diaphragm between rafters which lost me 50mm ova rafter space hence the idea was a non starter. Sarking gives you bracing so problem solved Id go with batts and more pir if I could. I think jsh also said that batts with pir below is a good solution with regards to decrement delay. Way beyond my understanding

Do you get the telescopic vents cheap?!
-
Less likely to block, easier to maintain, more stable pipe, no flow restriction/future proof and probably performs better at 1:40 as opposed to a smaller pipe +1 to 110mm

I saw this coming the moment this thread was started...I bet op is wondering what they did wrong!

Pay someone. May may sound as simple as filling a form in but there will be tips and tricks I'd imagine. I've seen applications filled in where the right boxes are ticked to make a scheme appear to have the least impact. alternativley research and DIY but be sure to learn all the tricks

I do think you have a point. The old place used to be a good recourse for technical knowledge and practical advice. Over years it changed to a place where the focus was energy efficiency if that is the right term. To to be fair though I do respect the work which has gone into these passiv/nil energy projects.

Objections: the best invalid objection you've heard

Slightly digress. I think these parish councils should risk any future 106/cil funding if they call an application into committee and it gains permission. Might make them think twice about calling something into committee when they have no actual valid reason. They need something to lose These parish councillors are nothing but a pain in the arse when it comes to development. Nimbys the lot of them.- 25 replies

Doesn't that prove that for the vast majority of the population energy efficiency is way down the list of priorities!
-
Your opinion won't be validated here I can assure!
-
Mine is for open space contributions no idea about the validity of it I will have to spend a few hours looking into it. Interesting though
-
Obviously there is no recourse if you signed the 106 when they were valid? I signed one earlier in the year typical luck!

Drilling the bottom chord of a posi joist.

Big coving to the ceilings! I'm sure worse has been done but are you best to speak to manufacturer -
Who's told you that tacho is necessary if ltd company?! tacho is necessary regardless of trading status but it's based on vehicles and weights. Obviously sometimes you could potentially be towing some weight pushing you above 3.5t gtw. I'd check whether this means you need tacho. Not it sure how it stacks up going forward but as far as I'm aware all private light goods are £230 a year. Think the 4x4 pickups fall into this band?

There's loads of firms round here charging an hourly rate for man and machine. The prices are so tight I don't think you will make it pay just on your founds. There are definitely scenarios in which it is beneficial to buy but you take their hourly rate, subtract your normal working rate, the cost of a machine plus allow longer for your inexperience and you'll be worse off most of the time.

option 2.

Yes the consensus is clear. I didn't like the looping back up and down part. What is the distance between copper soldering and joining speed fit while we're at it?
-
About 3 quid btw
-
I wondered about the air lock of looping it up behind. Perhaps it doesn't cause a problem if they're prepared to do it

Yes I usually have tails brought out like this but in 15mm. Seen these boxes used though where the 10mm just comes through box in centre of rad then out to valves. How are they doing this on first floor?
