  1. not using a post heater no sure where you got that idea. fancoils for 1st floor supplementary heating/cooling if required. a 300L tank is nowhere near enough for 5 showers @ 18/l thats 1350L even diluting with cold. Also plan for pressure unless you will only shower 1 at a time, not have the washing machine, dish washer, sink etc as well. yes to wwhrs, using the column. not factoring it into usage though it will just be an energy bonus.
  2. ASHP supplies cold feed to the MVHR. No way a 300L cylinder would be enough for us without rationing which isnt an option. Planning for double/treble that.
  3. im doing pretty much same as you, albeit its new build. Im adding a chiller unit to the MVHR and provision to reverse the ASHP to chill the slab and provide a cold feed to the fan coils. Are you maxing out solar ? You sure a single cylinder is enough hot water for a 5 bed ? Our family of 5 need a min of 2 of the large ones and im leaving room to add more in case they needed. What U values for walls, floor and roof are you designing for ?
  4. they do look very good, im going to use a very similar one for a path. I'm considering using flowpoint to grout them as they have some nice colours.
  5. couple systems if you have a search, you will still have a large area of cold bridging from the beams but it will still be miles better. 50mm celtox over the top / 50mm screed.
  6. 3 guesses if the morons in the council decide. It's a homes tax nothing more that the buyer has to pay. Like all taxes immoral.
  7. be easier putting in some velux i would say
  8. always annoying when the build up below damp isnt designed properly. You will struggle to pass building regs even with 100mm of celotex. can you lose ceiling height ? I think your best option is to remove the blocks and replace with insulated ones.
  9. guessing steel is 225mm then there is wallplate 90mm ?
  10. 65mm will almost certainly be a fail as well even for the lower spec refurb target. 100mm beads is a fail on new build,
  11. cutwrights offer a very fast service, they will cut them all to width and length. just need to router the returns. https://www.cutwrights.com/
  12. as long as they are a min of 150 below your dpc and sloping away from the building you can butt them up
  13. they lock pants though in brickwork!
  14. bit weird shower in a downstairs loo ? Why dont you get rid of it and put a bog in its place then you can have a separate ensuite for the bedroom, lose the cupboard for a shower.
  15. Truss supplier has been very good to be fair, 2 replacements coming Monday. the splits were not evident when we unloaded them a week ago and it has been really sunny since ….
  16. correct, try passing sap without them.
  17. its same in england, there is such little awareness of the new regulations amongst the trades and even the merchants. Was in Jewsons and asked when they would be stocking the thermally broken lintels as their shelfs full of the standard catnics can no longer be used. They asked what a thermally broken lintel is. I made sure at quote stage, in writing, the standard I'm expecting. For example Photo's of all the main thermal junctions have to be sent to the EPC assessor or you wont get an EPC cert on completion.
  18. i wouldn't necessarily expect just a bucket of water to run that far, 1:40 fall is very slight and textured slabs do hold onto water. When it rains it should not collect at the 'top' of the fall. photo and spirit level to check it.
  19. looks very smart though.
  20. interesting, none of them would pass for new build. Wonder why they bother still making them.
  21. Need a min of 150mm cav for EPS beads. Messy. Much prefer sheet insulation, smaller cav better U value.
  22. the ebay user is almost same as your username here!!! forum discount ?
  23. Had the trusses arrive for the garage, 2 of the 3 ( 4 hipped roof) main trusses are split to hell. Why do they think its acceptable to even bother sending them out ? Rejected of course. Too much to ask these days for a decent product, not like they are cheap.
  24. id leave the reveals until you have the boards. will look much better than trying to caulk it. Are they special as mdf window boards are allways available from the merchies.
