it cant really see it can be a trim as it has to form part of the window frame to stop water coming in. Think torrential downpour on your paving which are sitting the same height as your internal floor. 3 or 4mm of water against the door/glass needs to be stopped somehow otherwise it will run under your internal floor.

yep which is why you need a tray. no cav tray/weepers? I bet the water is wicking through the muck at the top of the lintle into the cavity, not helped by the sill of the window above certainly feeding water into it. Guessing the builder couldnt do a tray as the little window above was in the way for getting access to the inner skin to make the cav tray.

here is one of our bifolds, the finished floor (engineered oak that sits on the slab) is dead level with the porcelain outside, this leaves a 10mm upstand on the inside as a weatherseal. NHBC wouldn't sign off a true level threshold as they leak. Apparently there is a new profile system that can give level and no leaks but too new out for us to use in time. We put a very thin linear drain in front of door and tiled right upto it. To get around breaching DPC either side of the door we used a vertical DPC so actual DPC level is 12" above FFL.

there will definitely need to be an upstand on the inside, even a small one to provide a water barrier if you are looking to to a level threshold outside. It will 100% leak otherwise.

does it not have internal frame drains ? Our composite front door and bifolds both drain into the cill so any water collecting in the frame can escape.

that looks a huge gap ? Im thinking of 6mm type gap to give a shadow / floating wall effect. Could you take one of the whole door and frame

seems to me from reading the thread you have cowboy installers and are doing everything you can not to get them back to fix it which I can understand. Did you get a certificate with an insurance backed guarantee when it was fitted ? If you did make a claim. If not sounds like it was done on the cheap and as we all know you cant have cheap and quality at the same time.

normally you will have breeze/thermolite blocks on the inner skin. Just drive a normal 50mmish wood screw straight in as will be dabbed over anyway.

How does that work around door liners ?

I really like the idea of no architrve/skirting in some rooms, how practiaclly is this done as plastered walls need to meet the door liners and this transition is what the archi hides ?

must be crackers doingthat by hand! Mini diggers are less than 100 quid a day round these parts, much tidier job and you can fill it all in the same day so the weather dont drop the sides. You can get an extra deep 300wide bucket just for drainage which is a godsend.

not reallty any excuse not to get footing conc bang on. Can either knock pegs into the trend every meter or so and level the them with a laser then conc to top, or just laser the conc in as you go. 1 man on the staff another on the rake, overhead conc pump job done.

It really doesn't matter what your personal opinion is and if you think people are selfish or not for designing their own home to their own tastes. A bit like the nimbies who plague the country objecting to every planning application. A step or steps are perfectly acceptable even on perfectly flat sites. Should the buyer wish to adapt or change this they are free to do so. It is after all, nearly a free country.

Fair enough if you have a disabled occupant, in which case I would have made a more permanent job of it. Part M also states, in case you missed it, that steps are allowed.

that was a really anal BCO you had to make you do that. There is no rule stating a step cannot be used in Part M of the regs.
