shocking. not even an attempt at a cavity closer.
-
does it not have internal frame drains ? Our composite front door and bifolds both drain into the cill so any water collecting in the frame can escape.
-
that looks a huge gap ? Im thinking of 6mm type gap to give a shadow / floating wall effect. Could you take one of the whole door and frame
-
seems to me from reading the thread you have cowboy installers and are doing everything you can not to get them back to fix it which I can understand. Did you get a certificate with an insurance backed guarantee when it was fitted ? If you did make a claim. If not sounds like it was done on the cheap and as we all know you cant have cheap and quality at the same time.
-
normally you will have breeze/thermolite blocks on the inner skin. Just drive a normal 50mmish wood screw straight in as will be dabbed over anyway.
-
How does that work around door liners ?
-
I really like the idea of no architrve/skirting in some rooms, how practiaclly is this done as plastered walls need to meet the door liners and this transition is what the archi hides ?
-
how are you finishing the board/plaster to the door liners where they meet ?

Best way to clean patio jointing (grass stains)
Dave Jones replied to AdamD's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
sodium hypochlorite, brilliant stuff. Gets the slabs/blocks like brand new with no effort. Put on pretty strong first time and just leave it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sodium-Hypochlorite-14-15-Patio-Cleaner-Swimming-Pool-Chlorine-10-Litres/293530139736?epid=11037962208&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item4457c27c58:g:r7cAAOSwRsJehe7e&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%2Fn%2BzU5L90Z278x5ickkvjzWOStkxwnlDuxSI1PVVu8e5rlRA4HwQngsX5udberl6rRHs%2FMOJD89a35nRa2ilDubBNc9iASqP4F72mvHidM9vQ1Z9QMtIcU0mVQP24860dJKaXYXLXtz0RIzgKnX7jBBvFfVLHlxIhGmicbtM%2BAdWsFrEoMhWY2TTrrxJzInoZPOAgHSMvWmcPU0Hi6MVTWNnbzUsgXC1FKCqyRbeeOyZ4YeGeR8M7ItR%2Fn6Jwf09Fzll8dbfe7dlOOQPCI0cT8Rm3b4astrBVCPSVF0EQoNETEtT4bX4t20JbyI00OmvyZKEcQ23YrbPTVfIY1s7q8KEyKqpENP7ezld99QZGO0xwxa0PjqLuJfLZjkQxPs6p0IDI3V5gy%2FjQ97IpDuMhSS46D9%2BlbSe2wvaEixTR0h1S2e11sRco4pvicx5KM2aEmxl9VRfD90V%2BJFNg0C2bJyFBiR%2BNY8dWwilDp42ce9FMEnu%2B0gD7a0FwV0YobiEO88i0ZKit6EpfktrHxp5YXpT03vw%2BG5FuxJbarkoAOAQOcbEMmLKIbA5bYVT9WU0cNW1gkPUqqrjWKI8u%2BGxM56%2BmVfY9nN0U6XEw%2BwIXIFA6m7IwsoZvAVtb%2BP2KzfjZNTFKa1SrBlIC6PhDBBvPZmPNfQW1DbrL9ILqIJLDsI00b%2FTuxwhahwfG26%2Bspi0RwibHrWWPEojUiBnytz431rxp1KAO8zz4IQGatonNnel0vSbCtBJ5ejGPByxL1c3t47PfA8Vl8I9%2FmDuCk6Xiu5XkJhL07ANxOk2EfDUQ%3D%3D|cksum%3A29353013973641e3d213656a429db185ab70e2c2cacc|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2334524 -
not reallty any excuse not to get footing conc bang on. Can either knock pegs into the trend every meter or so and level the them with a laser then conc to top, or just laser the conc in as you go. 1 man on the staff another on the rake, overhead conc pump job done.

can you not get them to move the outside unit further away from the house ?

Cover over foul water pipes
Dave Jones replied to MortarThePoint's topic in General Construction Issues
no it doesn't say that, that is your own made up interpretation. Maybe go take a drive around a new persimmon or wimpy site, it will probably boil you over in rage the lack of 100's of ramps that these selfish owners haven't got.- 19 replies

Dave Jones replied to MortarThePoint's topic in General Construction Issues
It really doesn't matter what your personal opinion is and if you think people are selfish or not for designing their own home to their own tastes. A bit like the nimbies who plague the country objecting to every planning application. A step or steps are perfectly acceptable even on perfectly flat sites. Should the buyer wish to adapt or change this they are free to do so. It is after all, nearly a free country.- 19 replies

Looking to get one fitted to replace their oil boiler, while the place is being gutted (to enable them to live at home, wet room, wide doors etc). Anyone in the midlands/south west that people have used before and would recommend ? thanks Dave

Dave Jones replied to MortarThePoint's topic in General Construction Issues
Fair enough if you have a disabled occupant, in which case I would have made a more permanent job of it. Part M also states, in case you missed it, that steps are allowed.- 19 replies

that was a really anal BCO you had to make you do that. There is no rule stating a step cannot be used in Part M of the regs.- 19 replies

i use 3 x 2 treated and 2.4 100x100 wooden posts to make our closeboard fence. None of it weighs a ton and all pretty cheap from any builders merchant.

you need to double check the stairs to make sure you have headroom when travelling up the run. May have to adjust those small joists to achieve it. You can put in the dimensions at stairbox and it will check it for you.
-
timber posi joists are much easier to work with i found, not to mention getting services through them. the other joists can be hangered off the doubler easily enough. An RSJ at 7M is a big beast to manhandle and would be much safer to get in with a crane which all costs money.

if it was a new build the council would make you take down that high wall blocking your view of the road to an approved visibility splay!!! -
