  1. The bungalow is made of 4"x2" with sarking on the roof and timber floor. I'll take the bungalow down and use any decent timber for the shed. I'm hoping to get a concrete crusher in for the chimney breast and block extension at the back and use that as hardcore for the drive. Haven't thought about a design yet
  2. We bought 56m2 of it at the beginning of the build in 2010 from BS Specialist Products, Notts. We had it at the front of the new build for lorries and cranes at the beginning of the build and we've taken it up and used it many times. It will be finally used for the car turning circle which the planners told us to have.
  3. Thank you. Maybe one day but I've got plenty to keep me busy for the time being.
  4. It's Indian Sandstone that has a honed finish. It's also thickness calibrated +/- 2mm so easier to lay. It was the last two pallets left in a sale so we only had 104 slabs to work with but we did the front path, side verandah and rear patio without breaking any. Very fortunate.
  5. We're hoping to get it signed off this year but UK Power Networks are holding us up a bit. Not sure when we'll move in though.
  6. Wow, thanks for all the generous comments.
  7. I've used Triton in the past with no problems. The last one was still going strong when we sold up and that was after 15 years. We did have a water softener though, which in a hard water area is necessary.
  8. The weather's been dry and warm for a while now so I thought I'd take advantage and finally finish the front garden. The paving went well and it didn't take long laying the turf and it's easier cutting grass than weeding! We added some tubs with lavender to finish off. I'll have to finish the bathroom now, no more excuses.
  9. I'm in the same boat. The Bamboo Flooring Co. never seem to have offers on natural strand woven.
  10. Is there a requirement for timber internal doors to be fitted in order to obtain a BC completion certificate? These are not fire doors.
  11. Yes, our Dyson doesn't have any filters. Apparently it uses high speed vibration to shake the dust into the container, or something like that. We've had it about a year and it's good not having to clean filters.
  12. I've used creosote and creoseal from https://www.creosotesales.co.uk/. The creoseal looks like creosote and even smells like creosote and the rain beads on the surface just the same. It does take a bit longer to dry than creosote though.
  13. We have a Dyson and don't have any problems with it at all.
  14. I have an extract in my wetroom which is near the shower. Can't be anything but near because it's a small room. I wouldn't worry.
  15. I've been called a lot of things, clueless yes, rimless never!
  16. Ours was boarded four years after the frame went up and we've been lucky and haven't had any cracks.
  17. Being signed off wasn't a problem for them, it was the fact that it was unoccupied. When unoccupied the property needs to be checked once a week at least. Fortunately for me me the property is a few metres away from my bungalow and I'm in there everyday.
  18. I no longer required site insurance and arranged a one year 'Unoccupied Buildings and Contents Insurance' policy with Sennocke at a much lower premium. Their telephone number is 01732742102.
  19. Yes I have bought a Genvex Combi 185LS. This is a compact unit which includes a hot water tank, MHRV unit and ASHP which provides warm air heating and hot water with immersion backup. It is PHI certified. Genvex is part of the Nibe group and their products are very well constructed. http://www.genvex.dk/en/products/combinated/combi-185-bp/ https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=da&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sundthus.dk%2Fgenvex-combi-185-l-s%2F
  20. Thanks Erwin. Hopefully it will be just a case of sliding it into position.
  21. The price on the UK website is £8641.
  22. I would like to thank Jeremy @JSHarris as I have now received the Genvex unit from the supplier, in Denmark, that he recommended a while back. The whole purchase went very smoothly with a ten day delivery time. The cost including VAT was over £3100 less than if bought from the UK supplier. Of course the VAT in Denmark is 25% so no doubt it will be interesting doing my VAT reclaim in the next few months. At 210Kg it was quite interesting moving it from the driveway to the back door for an oap and 8st partner. Once we got it there I asked a couple of friendly farm workers in the orchard who lifted it into the house for us. Now I just need to connect it up, that is after I've turfed the front garden!
  23. Yes I've got VoIP in the new house via the WiMAX connection. Won't have a landline in there at all.
