Water only needs to be 750mm and if it’s a meter away and dug with a 12” bucket it won’t cause any harm but watch out for services to the other house when digging

Internal rainwater pipe insulation?
PeterW replied to ashthekid's topic in Rainwater, Guttering & SuDS
Used on process engineering pipe work. Brings back memories of a summer job in about 1993 sticking the foil onto that stuff ..!!- 16 replies

He will most likely trip over the CIL rules and that will cost him. Also, if he’s not a builder or developer or have any links then his profit will be minuscule as there isn’t 20% profit in every new house that people think there is. Chances are his mortgage interest will swallow any profits he makes.

Would a megaflo be ok in the garage
PeterW replied to recoveringbuilder's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
Don’t think so as 3-4m is no worse than ordinary houses from the main tank. Worst case add a secondary return loop. -
Remember the great cement crash of ‘21 ... something to tell the grandchildren while we wait for the first train of HS2 to run .... ?

Best spec for high pressure hot water to multiple outlets?
PeterW replied to sendu's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
No. Secondary only 22mm to the supply points such as the tap tees then 10mm back from the furthest point. -
Welcome ..! Also worth knowing what the existing heating method is ..? Storage heaters.? Solid fuel..??

10mm to basins, 10mm to WCs, 15mm to showers and 22mm to the swimming pool by the sounds of it. -

Quadrant for me on this. Bonded to the timber with mitre bond and just pushed up to the plasterboard. -

Best spec for high pressure hot water to multiple outlets?
PeterW replied to sendu's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
Have you ever seen 30 litres a minute ..??? For comparison that is a 5 litre container every 10 seconds, a 2 litre pop bottle in 4 seconds ..?? It is fire hose type flows through showers ... None of your taps meet water regs to meet the flow requirements - I would have restrictors on basins to 6l/min, kitchen at max 9l/min as otherwise you’re going to have water everywhere. You really don’t need flow rates much about 9-12l/min on a shower, bath is probably the only one where you want a slightly higher flow. -

No - difference is 28mm vs 22mm connection and tbh you’ll not notice as taps are your limiting factor -
Mitsubishi Ecodan - Can you run it backwards?
PeterW replied to Matt60's topic in Other Heating Systems
Yes you can as long as it’s not on RHI as they disable the ability for the unit to do cooling. You also need to make sure you add isolator valves so you don’t try and cool the DHW tank in error. -
Roof tile vent for extractor fans
PeterW replied to MortarThePoint's topic in Roofing, Tiling & Slating
I always try and ensure the pipe runs downward toward the vents and preferably in a rigid pipe. Condensation then will trickle down and not get caught in the ribs or spiral. You’ll get pools of water that will go stale if not.- 1 reply

All sides glued and first row always cut to fit joist a spacing then the rest get done as they fall as long as they span over min 2 joists. No squeaks or movement.

Megaflo is old technology. What’s the issue with having an external expansion like every other UVC..? And you cannot use 55L/min anyway - a cold mains will struggle to do that so why get obsessed over how fast a tank will empty ..?? -

Speak to Trevor at Cylinders2Go - Telford do all their cylinders in every size to 500 litre. -
No the mixer is correct if you look at how it is piped, it’s the manifolds that are wrong. On some you can swap the flow meters for the actuators but it’s easier with these to slack off the grey nuts and switch the manifolds over.

I’d be taking out a few of those slates and then cutting out where the crack is. New lead under the top section and over the bottom, overlap by about 100mm or so and then relay the slates That is a very shallow valley - is it a sarked roof out of interest ..??

possibly slightly softer but not noticed any issues. And yes, hammer and a blunt chisel bit ..!!

Yes - bottom right should be boiler feed. One up is boiler return. I am wondering how they got this so wrong ..!!! @David78 is there anything on the left end of the manifold..? Or is it just caps..?

@Onoff correct on all counts. I wanted a stone / cream finish and the lime also made it compact slightly better. I used an SDS drill just pushed on to the boxing to get it to vibrate the bubbles up to the top.
