  1. Send him round - I’ve got 2 tonne of kerb mix that needs doing ..!!
  2. GSHP is only worth it if you go for RHI and then making the house air tight and fabric first becomes pointless as it reduces your payments .... Go for min 150 cavity - blown beads are good. If you can get 350mm deep rafters then Warmcell in the roof is good for both heat and sound insulation. Seriously consider using in roof PV as the cost is about £30/Sqm more for in roof PV to slate, and about £50/sqm for tiles. Becomes a real no brainer
  3. Yep you can bridge those.
  4. Ok so that’s just for a mid position valve wiring as if you give it grey and white by either heating on, and hot water off or hot water satisfied, it will push the valve across to the heating only port.
  5. RW3 Three Channel Electronic 7 Day Heating Programmer https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00QVM6VK4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KMi2CbPSR3RNJ
  6. Reliance RW 3 should be change of £35 delivered.
  7. How many channels do you need ..? If it’s 3 just get a new single clock that does the lot.
  8. Exactly what I’m sorting currently ..! But will fully fill them and then put mass concrete around the tops and sides before they are covered over. Can’t see why the steel framed and reinforced ones wouldn’t work.
  9. It’s the one I use and as long as you don’t try using 32mm wood augers in the drill it’s fine ...! I’d also grab a couple of decent impact bits as the driver has a tendency to shear off cheap screwdriver bits.
  10. Looks like a 3/4 black alkathene - but as @RichS says you will need more space.
  11. TBH it’s the way I always start clearing a blockage as to be blunt there are not many things that aren’t softened or dissolved in really hot water ..!! Glad it has worked for you @lizzie..!
  12. Looks like a buried IBC to me with a pair of ABS inlets on it.
  13. @Conor Screwfix have the 3Ah LXT twin pack for £199 currently.
  14. Buckets of very hot water ..!!! That’s a good start, will usually push most things through. Has it always done this ..?
  15. A QS or a PM in this scenario will basically swallow any saving you may make in not appointing a main contractor and taking the subs route. A decent PM will be taking on the materials management and scheduling, and ensuring the quality of delivery to an agreed timescale. You can’t do that twice a week for 1-2 hours. If you are on a firm or fixed price with a builder then a QS will only be adding value to ensure you are getting what you pay for at the stage you make a payment - that’s not an oversight role and again, you will be getting a service whatever you define. I’ve recently done a staged inspections role for a client where I inspected at each agreed point and undertook snagging and rectification as we went - that was agreed with the main contractor at the initial contract point (not that his site manager was aware initially ....) and that was purely to ensure the build was delivered to specification and also to a quality level. Again, that’s not a PM role but a different service. All of this depends what you want to achieve in reality, and ultimately, how deep are your pockets ...??
  16. So this is even more bizarre ..!! The changes will apply to projects where the technology costs of installation are above 60 per cent of the total price. Labour costs will still benefit from the reduced rate of 5 per cent VAT. So if you’re quoted for solar panels and installation at £5k, but only £2k of that is shown as materials, do you only get to pay 5%..???? HMRC love to make it complicated ..... but it does look like a sop to the MCS scheme ....!
  17. Are you using it as a land drain or a soakaway..??
  18. FFS give me your email address and I’ll send you the £3 for the leftover bag ..!
  19. Chuck it in the bin..!! It will go off in minutes ..!
  20. @coggs which way is flow on the main run and is it yours or the sewerage company ..?
  21. This is quick and cheap and a must have irrespective of the timer issue. For a smart switch, a 16A Sonoff will do it no problem. One per immersion, controlled over wifi. For the circulation pump, just use a simple 24hr mechanical rotary time switch, give it 15min/hour over 6am-11pm and it will save you a large quantity of money and prolong the life of the pump - the one I fitted saved £175 in its first year off heating water.
  22. Is the £400 including or excluding water and sewerage..?
  23. But plugs let moisture and crap in, and they were designed for portable equipment and not fixed installations which you could say this is ...
  24. One of these - FCU or fused connection unit https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/KBIP6300.html
  25. I’d be going with an IP66 cable outlet with switch and neon and cutting the plug off as I can never understand why for stuff such as this they expect it to be plugged into a standard 3 pin ....
