  1. A “For Sale” board ... sell them, buy the right thing and move on... I first thought they were Heras fence blocks, they will not do what you want so get rid and buy the right thing. You could even offer someone some free walk on glazing if they buy the lot ...
  2. @nod is there a slope to the field and into the ditch..?
  3. Goal post, yes assuming it is required for the structural integrity. Pad stones... depends what the spec or request was from the architect. You can calculate your own padstones though, it isn’t that complicated. https://www.steelbeamcalculator.co.uk/free-online-padstone-calculator/
  4. Just be where things have been bricked up previously. Could’ve been an old entrance ..? Old plans, you may have to visit the council office as they are stored on microfiche so only access is to go down and search.
  5. @nod there was an old post about this principle.
  6. RC has controlled Cement ratios and also has a specification suitable for use with reinforcing. C28/35 is a generic foundation grade so may not be suitable for use with reinforcing as it does not have a standardised mix ratio or corrosion retarders. Engineer should know this. 7Ns for an outer skin being rendered with no load (as it’s TFrame..?) unless you’re building 6 storeys or higher are overkill. 3.6N will be fine. I assume by 7N to wall plate you mean under the frame so sole plate ..?
  7. I like your builder. Mesh in solid floors especially where they are on solid bases is pointless until you get over around 30sqm and even then adding fibres is simpler and cheaper. Architect has specced a pointless product too - I assume you’ve read the BBA Cert..?? Sovereign Hey’di K11 is a salt resistant cementitious tanking compound for the protection of structures against water from the ground and which maybe potentially subject to hydrostatic pressure. So basically it’s only designed to protect from ground water ie below ground installs, and you’ll probably create more problems than you solve.
  8. Not for PD but you can’t claim the VAT back so unless you’ve got the materials lying around that happen to be spare from the build .... ?
  9. You don’t have PD rights until the scheme for which you have Planning Permission for is completed.
  10. Blacksmiths bits in a decent drill and go slowly building up the size. Bigger the drill, slower the size.
  11. 100mm EPS70 at 3 sheets to the pack for £42 inc assuming you’re not too far from Birmingham. Ecclestones are a foam converter. https://ecclestons.com/xcart/sheet/eps70-polystyrene-sheet/polystyrene-eps70-sheet-12mm-to-300mm.html For 225mm go with 3 layers at 75mm as it comes 4 to a pack and you will be easily sorted.
  12. I would be getting rid of the angles ..!! Go through the wall at 30 degrees and down to the next elbow otherwise you’ll have issues rodding any of this. Added a pic but you’re saying it’s like this on the top ..?? I would do it as on the bottom - last item is a swept T with a plug so you can rod this if needed.
  13. Concrete isn’t cheap - it’s the wrong spec ... you need RC25 or RC35 if you’re using it with reinforcing. Don’t be told C25 is ok Blocks are very cheap - 7N can be heavy so I hope you are friends with your brickies Safery Size mesh sheets are around £9 for A142 and £13 for A252 so those prices are very high.
  14. EPS will be fine and the difference in warm up will be negligible. 75mm is a thin screed at the best of times.
  15. Make the screed 100mm and the EPS will be fine. Beware though at 450mm some BCOs may ask for a beam and block or suspended floor.
  16. Do you mean copper restraints on the bottom edges ..? What’s the slate size and pitch of the roof ..??
  17. That’s a pretty crap window score - most modern UPVC hits 1.0 without a huge issue so why go with a lower performance ..?? Basement/ground floor is too high as well - get them to 0.11 or 0.1 using slightly better insulation and you will get much better SAP score and lower run costs.
  18. So 850w is ~10w/m2 is Passiv spec - sure you’ve done the calcs correctly ..? If so, 2 people will give you ~500w in winter and you’re heating requirement is near none existent. Have you done a shade / cooling analysis..? And 85m over 2 floors ..? That’s a 7x6m structure ..??
  19. 3.6N isn’t enough for direct bearing - how big are the steels and what’s the end bearing values from the calcs..?
  20. 1m isn’t a non material amendment - it’s pretty substantial ..! Have you spoken to the planning officer .?
  21. Depends which one it is - would guess it’s a 3.6N. Any visible paint on any of them ..? Where is the wall..? Which storey..?
  22. Crossed with Dave but you need a full encased concrete rest bend on that vertical stack.
  23. What is to the left of the wall ..??
  24. You will hit your head on the cabinet - and the bottom of the cabinet will pick up grease and condensation which will damage it.
