  1. If you don't mind me asking what sort of money where these?
  2. Just resurrecting this thread I have done alot of the membrane and taped and glued to the walls. To plaster over the membrane that is glued to the walls, what did you do @Declan52 tape it or expanded metal?
  3. Earlier in the build we decided to install 2 oak beans rather than 3. This meant one was over our utility so we have left it with a flat roof. Now we don't really know how to finish it. We don't really want to be seeing the ply topper. Anyone any ideas.
  4. This discussion tangenting to lean agile, scrums etc made me chuckle. I work in an agile safe environment with fortnightly sprints, daily scrums etc and it works incredibly well for us delivering network functions in an application driven environment. The boys in other teams in work take the piss out of me and regularly ask if I have a Kanban board for the build. I don't think my trades would appreciate it.
  5. Piece of 4x2 it will be I think down close to the frame and mesh/expanded metal down over the lot. Maybe a bit of foam between the head and 4x2. How do you fix the 4x2 in place?
  6. I have to admit reading @Declan52 explanation they maybe aren't lazy and the coursing does make sense. Just got to the stage where there have been a few things and it seems the attitude has been sure the plasterers or joiner will make that good, not my problem. Or the old saying a landscaper I worked for as teenager would say "you can't see it from my house"
  7. I always have questions but that's why this place is so good they can't answered. Here is my latest and as usual my head is melted working compressed hours to get the 5th day off to work at the house. Damned brickies have been lazy with the internal door heads. Set them all at 2100 off finished floor it seems cause it was easy for them. I now have a gap between the frame and head what do I do with that to get it plastered?
  8. Does cement board come pre formed in an L shape, not familiar with it.
  9. Great job @Declan52 looks well
  10. We don't have facia other than around the other flat roof so not sure it would look right.
  11. Any ideas how to render this off nice and neat to flat roof trim. Walls were built without considering the fall of the flat roof hence why roof timbers are above wall. Haven't managed to ask the plasterers yet.
  12. In the glorious land of the hotpress where John and I both hail from I have found it nigh on impossible to get someone that will fit a monobloc ASHP. All of the renewable companies 'specialising' in ASHP want to install split systems and were quoting £7k for the unit alone. Makes it very difficult to justify when pennies are tight during the build. Much in the same way as PV without grant incentive.
  13. Is this available in NI?
  14. Yes there are soakers under the lead and slate. I can understand the stop bead running in line with the pitch of the roof, but the horizontal one doesnt seem right when the render will continue below that stop bead or am I missing something.
  15. Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by wraps. I have fairly beefy caps on the top of the chimneys now so as you say water is not likely to get down
  16. How would you finish the render on these chimneys where the lead trays are. I can see the point of the folded lead but it doesnt exactly leave it easy or neat to render to. Could the fold be trimmed off and the lead meshed and rendered over? Advice welcome
  17. Dark or milk chocolate is the burning question
  18. Did you try CES quarry, I have always found them competitive. Northstone were expensive when I was pricing.

    Beacon Broadband

I have also heard less than positive things about bluebox also, but I know two guys that have it and they have no real issues. My brother in-law has airfibre and has no issues it just a bit more expensive than bluebox.
  20. Trying to get my 1st fix done and it's a nightmare. Can't keep the joiner near the place he is juggling so many jobs.

    Beacon Broadband

@Alphonsox I am almost certain I looked at them before and they didn't cover Co. Down, may have changed though. Have you looked at airfibrenet or bluebox
  22. Im wiring a GJD system into my new place. The folks put it in the house they built 30 years ago and their current one, it is rock solid. Ubiquiti for these, probably one internal would be suffice and an external one for the garden.
  23. Insert is fitted. The pipe was worn around the top from the serations so I cut the pipe yesterday and refitted. It seemed a good bit tighter than before but who knows there could be 6 bar pressure of water blasting everywhere.
  24. I was hoping it would be faster than a normal extract. Still think I would like some way of auto sensing humidity before it travels all the way to the built in sensor.
  25. A tee it is so 32x32x25
