    Sort of on thread but I've done a couple of small concrete areas (bathroom floor, shed base, astronomy pier base) and used Everbuild's waterproofer from T'station in the mix. It says on the label it's also a de-aerator and does what it says. You get hardly any "bubbles" when you tamp it down.

    Assessments based on assumptions without recorded/measured data.....might as well chuck a dice. Seems the mass builders pay scant attention to detail. How many of them would you see on the scrounge because they're a metre short on airtight tape? Their subbie would just leave it out.

    No offence..."energy assessor"...that's a real job then? Surely you need data AFTER the house has been up and running for a year or so to see how much has been spent / saved.

    Ooh...15 - 20 seconds! Luxury! When you want a shower do you have to put the handset in the floor to get it going then if that doesn't work take it off? Then if that fails unscrew the hose from the bar valve and hold you thumb on and off the outlet? Then there's the guessing game whether when it eventually stops being freezing cold it'll be lukewarm or actually a decent (rarely too hot) shower! Happens to a "mate" of mine...

    Joking aside a short while ago somebody found a shelter in their back garden. WW2 vintage I think. They cut a hole in the roof and fitted a BFO skylight. Now using it as a garden room / cinema from memory! Happens quite often it seems. I believe the SOE had a few secreted and filled with provisions in case of Nazi invasion! Yours is probably just an old long drop!

That would then hold a new fillet of render.

    +1. I ditched 22mm copper and went with a mix of 15mm copper and PB to the bath in @Nickfromwales advice. Works perfectly. I can assure you it empties both the CWS tank and hot cylinder very quickly. One day I'll be able to fill this huge bath! Btw mine is all gravity fed.

    Replaced another rotten timber window over the weekend with a generic 28mm DG panel that I had made to fit the gap. (Non opener; internally beaded, cw sill and end caps £75). Put it this way, it's better than what was there! In a 9" block wall. I used some "compriband" around all 4 sides for a start. Then wedges, 10mm window fixings and foam. Followed up with a bit of shuttering mitre bonded to the protection tape and rendered the sides and under the sill. (Need a bit of "asbestolux" on that flue cage still). At the top...should I try and form some sort of angled lip? Cheers

    I've a couple, an old, piece of carp Plasplugs one and a Stanley the same as this that's really quite good: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/181790452960?_mwBanner=1 Say you've a 50mm stud behind plasterboard; as you draw it across the wall horizontally, it'll beep and show one LED at the stud edge then more LEDs as you get towards the stud centre. Then fades and stops as you get to and past the other edge.     How about a length of st/st Unistrut? Plenty of pre drilled slots. If you fitted it toes up you could hook over the edge.
