  1. Seems the replacement for my Varispeed 50 in the pic above now specifies a 50gal min cws: https://new-team-pumps.co.uk/ts-50-shower-pump-plus.html
  2. Snap! Or at least back to a bare shell.
  3. I thought you were talking to me for a second, that's near exactly my situation. 25gal cws, copper cylinder, shower pump (as you know!) I'm feeling proper flushed that I've got a Surrey Flange at least! @Russell griffiths, a Surrey flange draws off prority / dedicated, deaerated, hot water from the very top of the cylinder. Here's mine, provides direct hot to the pump, cold is direct from the cws that sits above under the roof apex: This is one of the only pumps I found that is accepting of a 25gal cws tank as a minimum. I replaced the New Team one that came with the house and that had died:
  4. My missus (a veggie) will often say after I've eaten a home cooked chilli con carne for instance, "That recipe was supposed to feed four!" I really don't have an on/off switch. Good this morning though, cored and sliced Braeburn & a handful of walnuts at about 5am - they have a proven appetite suppresant in them and it works for me. As long as I drink (water) I won't feel hungry until about 3. And so it begins! Might ditch the nightly ale for a small glass of red.
  5. How about as the retaining wall and to support the deck? Picked at random: https://www.manomano.co.uk/stone-fence-2508?model_id=1543249&referer_id=537135&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjJKS0cjx1AIV5pXtCh0mXQVMEAQYBCABEgJVDvD_BwE Fill with cheap stone or even crushed concrete? (That's the garage base gotten rid of )
  6. I quite like the idea of gabions myself. If I had the dosh I'd have loads made up in stainless steel mesh and just fill them gradually with flints from around the garden. Bug heaven, free draining and would last forever!
  7. Scaffold boards will rot pretty quick compared to sleepers in my experience. Maybe treat them AND staple some DPM either side? Water would drain down rather than sitting against them? Could look quite good with short concrete posts. Are you meaning to double up in height or width on the boards?
  8. Being the monkey see, monkey do sort that I am.... Can't you build your retaining wall FIRST then grade the ground around it and DUMP the soil within the retaining wall area to bring the ground up? Guessing you might need to pre build some piles for the decking. Would save on some skip hire?
  9. I'm sitting in the carvery...stuffed! Amstel was flat so Heineken instead. Maybe I'll kick start the morning with a sliced apple, some walnuts and hot water with lemon juice for breakfast! AND 25 years wedded bliss today!
  10. @Jons, you'll have to go some to trump Blofeld's Lair aka @jamiehamy's garage!
  11. Although I'm as far from airtight as its possible to get I was worried about maybe stagnant smells or even gas coming in via the 63mm duct I ran my 25mm water pipe in. I forced some 22mm pipe insulation down there (a metre), pushed it into the duct by a couple of inches and topped off with Wiska Magic Gel. I reckon you could, in a larger duct with multiple services, squirt some expanding foam in followed by gel when dry.
  12. Je ne parle Francais and all that if my O Level French serves me correct but I think what you want is on these lines: The rubbery bit & stat: http://www.adepem.com/PIECES-DETACHEES/CHAUFFAGE/CHAUFFE-EAU/REGENT/894020+REGENT+150+VMI.html & the element: http://www.jeremplace.com/6665-resistance-2500-watts-droite-pour-chauffe-eau.html Between the two links you'll see how the stat pokes down inside. Elements vary in length and wattage so see if you can find that. If you can do that without taking it out and have the new one ready it'll make changing over that much quicker. Sorry, it might as well be in a foreign language!
  13. One thing I'll say about @daiking is that he doesn't hang about.
  14. I find losing weight, eating healthily and laying off the drink gives me more energy and impetus for "everything". Sleeping really badly at the mo and generally just can't be ar$ed. Fits and starts on multiple projects as some may be aware! It's like I need a regular, new fix. Trouble on the health thing is I'm always going to start "tomorrow". Some calamity happens and it's retox not detox! 16st 11lbs on Sunday. The quacks wanted me down to 15st when I had my blood pressure issues a while back but I was knocking on 20st at the time! (Weird reasons for that to do with my Mum's dementia). How about a Fat Fighters thread for the mutual support and general derision of the unhealthy here?
  15. Wasn't it Boy George who said he'd rather have a nice cup of tea? Git of a relative bought me "SLOW DOWN, 50!" mug for my birthday just to rub it in. Felt this birthday more than any other tbh. Still, coinciding nicely with the SWMBO starting the mentalpause.
  16. Lucky you had those AAs!
  17. Sounds like his immersion spanner is the wrong size to me? Scrub that, THAT immersion looks odd as in its maybe a bolted flange / rubber gasket & he needs a socket for the nuts?
  18. My beer & fridge need a garage...
  19. That looks like mine.....will.....one day!
  20. This is mine, made by Roebuck. I was in the wholesalers years back and saw it. I've known the owner for like 30 years. They were the "in thing" at the time. He said "Take one (FOC) and try it!" Does seem to make me hit nails more accurately.....but tbh can't remember the last time I used a nail! Last used this to drift the bolt out of a lower ball joint!
  21. That explains a lot....and the hours wasted looking for a magic inverter that fits inside a matchbox!
  22. I'm honestly more than happy with the levelness of my bathroom floor for tiling straight onto. I've dry laid some tiles and they sit fine one to the other. The adhesive bed I feel will take anything up.
  23. And she can cook! (Search Banshee Moon on YouTube ). And she's 50 ffs! My missus is 50 too..... Seriously, 18vdc to 230vac...small inverter?
  24. Would a "weight forward" hammer help?
