Take one duct down and bring it up in the rough corner of the first building. Put the second duct alongside and run down to wherever. My very first shed base circa 1990? I wasn't silly, rope in the FiL and a couple of mates and get behind the camera! IIRC the SWA was buried under the lawn and came up thru the slab in a bit of 3" plastic pipe. You can just see it on the left:

Mine quite likes it up against the wall in our kitchen.

How is that 7m run "in the house", clipped direct, in insulation, around the outside etc. What does it feed at the mo at that "box on the wall" - a socket I'm guessing. Is it 2-core or 3-core SWA? What over current protective device is it currently fed from, an mcb maybe and what's it's rating? Is there currently any RCD protection on that 7m feed? So is the "outside breaker" in a bank of others say on one side of an RCD? Do you know your earth system type in the house? All important to know. But in the interests of doing something now: So we have 7+10+15=32m. Probably going to be a bit longer in reality as you're buried & where it comes up the wall. With a little cu (s) mounted at a reasonable height in the outbuilding (s) this could easily be 40m total. I'd go duct(s) every time. Think where in the outbuilding it'll come up. Aim for a corner. You could run two ducts from that box on the wall and let the sparks terminate there so the 6mm splits to feed each building its own SWA. Ducting is cheap. The alternative is to "daisy chain" it - duct to the first cu then from that to the second outbuilding. Let's assume you go down in 6mm and daisy chain. Take the minimum bending radius at x6 the cable dia. which will be about 17mm. Long sweeping duct bends are better than tight ones obviously. As to depth then you say "border" a rule of thumb is "two spade depths" which is about 450mm. I'd say thats a minimum. Dig your trench, lay your duct (600mm to the top of the duct would be super) and cover with sand or at least sieved soil. (Sand just gives a contrasting colour for the digger to see later). Belt and braces would see interlocking cable tiles over the sand layer. (A line of old roof tiles is a pretty good nod to the idea). Backfill with sieved soil, free from sharps and put yellow warning tape (pence per metre) about 6" under the "grass" so the digger picks it up before the duct! SWA in blue MDPE really isn't a good idea! You shouldn't but many do, run say alarm wires or Cat5/6 in that same duct. For the mininal cost increase I'd go 50/63 duct. Cap the ends for now with a bit of scrunched up dpc and cable tie and just have them poking up a bit above ground a bit to deter the tunnel bunnies. You might even find an aerosol lid and tape works! As to power, with that length and 6mm you're in the realms of having about 40A to play with over the two buildings. You could have a decent leccy heater in the main building as the main load and just light and socket set up in the little shed. LED lighting of course. Start using shredders etc and nipping inti the shed for a warm up and you'll up the draw but should all be good.

Cheap seats here as ever but I took a 3m length of cheapo worktop and thinned it down to 1/2". That's my upstand. (Do have a bit of st/st to go above). I routed 3 dead square holes in it that line up exactly with the back boxes. In case anyones wondering, I did have >300mm from the induction hob to the cooker switch until SWMBO decided she wanted the hob dead centre of the double unit instead of dead centre of the right hand door! I've to fit an extractor hood sometime and the st/st sheet between that and the upstand. The switch for that will go to the right of the hob. It'll mean a bit of in-situ routering of the upstand and feeding from the other side of the wall. That'll all be done in 20mm galv conduit like the rest.

I'll be picking your brains when I do my gate pillars! For starters are you "knapping" the flints (if that's the right term)? That is cleaving them in two etc or just selecting random flints and placing flat side out?

I've love to see this technique deal with my flints! -
Mate went to one a few years back. High end kitchen fitted, all tiled and no sockets anywhere. Not apparently the case that they were even there and had been tiled over. Customer, foreign, refused to have the tiles damaged. The "sparks" had run around the outside of the kitchen extension and came thru the wall at multiple points with SWA! John (my mate) was only there to dismantle the units.

I've just realised these are mosaics you're talking about!

It can imo. These people appear near to you. http://www.jetcutit.com It's the sort of place you want. Not on personal recommendation just found through searching. (Must be 15 -20 years since I dealt with a fabricator in Scotland and that was in Edinburgh!) Water / laser cutting is great. If you have rudimentary CAD skills they can likely cut it. From house signs to faux hinges in everything from MDF to 200mm thick stainless steel at one place I use. Cutting tiles in half of course wouldn't need a drawing! I'm guessing though your sockets are already in place and you need to tile over them? Not so easy as having a batch of like tiles cut I'm afraid. @Nickfromwales will be along shortly about cutting tiles I'm sure!

Bath Surround / Boxing In, and concealed pipework
Onoff replied to Onoff's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Just watched the YouTube video tbh and it does have a clever sticky out plastic assembly on the back. At about 6 mins in: Still think I could make one out of an old st/st door kick plate! -

So what is so special about this wall drain cover that it's worth over £70? http://www.tapsempire.co.uk/geberit-ready-wall-drain-brushed-steel-p-45251.html?osCsid=oq9q5thinjb3p3k80ibhbltvv3 -
I'm going to go out on a limb and say find yourself a local water jet cutter and have them do it. But guessing not in Orkney?

Yep. If they hadn't seen me yesterday I'd have ripped it out with the Leatherman and thrown it at them! -

I can see the acidity of the lemon juice coupled with the sweetness of the ginger honey syrup doing my tooth enamel the world of good. But what a way to go, sounds scrummy! -

I was yesterday, taking 2 x 200 (white tablet form) ibuprofen then 4 hours later 2 x paracetamol. Didn't touch the pain. Maybe I should have tried them together. The only ibuprofen that work quickly for me are the little red see thu gel ones. I take them with tea. I don't drink coffee, the wife says it makes me aggressive! Politely declined my brother's offer of Tramadol! Been there with the slipped disc. -

Gin it is then! I had a check up and was prescribed pain relief last night then started treatment today. I'd planned last night to space them out 20.00 / 00.00 / 04.00hrs to keep the maths simple but was crawling up the walls. At 19.30hrs I had a cream cracker then x2 200 liquid Ibuprofen and one Co-codamol 500. I''m a big lad but within 10 minutes the pain had gone and I was talking to the wife laughing at Two And A Half Men! Seemingly the Co-codamol / Ibuprofen combo is well known for dental pain. It goes: - 2x200 Ibuprofen + 1 or 2 co-codamol - then 4 hours later 1 or 2 co-codamol - then 4 hours later 2x200 Ibuprofen + 1 or 2 co-codamol - then 4 hours later 1 or 2 co-codamol - then 4 hours later 2x200 Ibuprofen + 1 or 2 co-codamol and so on No more than 8 co-codamol in 24 hrs and don't take any other meds containing paracetamol I did feel funny all over. In bed I asked the wife if she'd put fresh sheets on as everything felt soft and silky. She hadn't! Very odd! -

Trying to avoid "sweet". Maybe JD on it's own? Must be 30 years since I've drunk spirits. Vodka and grapefruit juice was my thing. I went off spirits after the Isle of Sheppey incident of 87 involving Vodka, Bacardi and lager in the same glass. I remember Star Trekkin' was playing on the telly! -

You're going all @Ferdinand on me with the complication! I've honestly never, ever drunk gin in my life though oddly enough have worked in a couple of factories, Beefeater and Gordons. EDIT: Do not drink alcohol while taking co-codamol, as this will make you more likely to experience side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, confusion and blurred vision, especially if you are taking a higher prescription-only strength of the medicine. FFS! -
The local vicar ran over a, old, hidden, angle iron fence post and did similar, bending the shaft. I simply transplanted the engine off of a mower with a rusted deck.

I'm falling apart. Another root filling begun today! I've discovered though that 2x200 Ibuprofen taken with a Co-codamol 500 makes the pain go away! Can't keep up with the dental bills tbh. Considering the sugar content in beer & red wine and that I'm keen to preserve some teeth I'm seriously considering whether I'm at an age (50) that I should be considering spirits as a tipple of choice? Any suggestions for a beginner? Nowt fancy or sweet mind! -

Underlying boards showing through render - suggestions?
Onoff replied to Bitpipe's topic in Plastering & Rendering
How about some faux stitching and it'd look like a quilt / puffer jacket? Is this like the leopard spotting I've seen with some EWI? I'd be well peed off tbh. It's not to do with heat is it? (A weird analogy but the old Fibre Sports bonded on X-packs on Capris were ace from the Ford dealers. Aftermarket jobs affixed with pop rivets improperly, used to show up where the pop rivets got hot in the sun and showed thru the paint).
