  1. On the subject of "reach" and hole saws you can buy these extension bars: I've only got them for the smaller arbour size (11/32" AF). Bloody handy if you want to drill steel a metre away. Bought for a job I can still remember years back and used once or twice since. Of course there's been times I've wished I've had the bars for the bigger 7/16" AF arbours! Another useful one I have is an arbour for the smaller Starretts that fits into ordinary 1/4" bit holders.
  2. We give the kids that turkey bacon. "Fakeon" my son calls it. I had blackberries with walnuts this morning! (Getting off thread isn't it?)
  3. The collective makers would no doubt argue the standard is the optimum length. The cynic in me says the standard ones come up short so you have to buy the deep ones!
  4. Shop around and you can get Starrett kits of deep cut holesaws. General purpose, plumbers, electricians sets, 9 piece, 12 piece all in their own carry case.
  5. Half thinking that long horizontal soil comes in from the 110mm Y branch on the outside, North facing wall. It might be a "cold" spot in there?
  6. Not really. In most cases I use a Starrett to go through "thin" sheet steel or ali. If drilling wood you can generally at least get the pilot through and go from both sides. Top tip, Starrett pilots are fantastic as general purpose pilots on their own for use of fabbing steel work. Back on thread, it's rare I want a deep hole saw but have a few. Mainly where I haven't planned something and have access only one side. They're much deeper than normal and will breeze thru a 4"x2". Here's one I bought earlier against a standard one. Depth of cut is 51mm from top of teeth to inside face: Ref Silverline I bought a load of their 1/2" router bits for finish "planing" the edges on Contiboard. Rough cut first then route and it comes up like factory. They're fine for that. Interesting on Silverline products it's written "Guaranteed FOREVER Register Online*". Not tested it out though. EDIT: Imho Morse brand cobalt holesaws are better than Starrett. Did a load of work in st/st and didn't miss a beat. Got them from WF from memory. Trefolex or RTD etc cutting compound's a must for increasing longevity.
  7. Fair enough. I'm back on arch topped pockets at the mo anyway. Looks like it's a goer, with mosaics for the soffit! Not sure about lighting it though. I'll get a better idea when I project my tile lines around the room.
  8. I've used a 70mm holesaw thru 6mm st/st plate nae bother,
  9. I might be looking at floor to ceiling glass "wings" either side of the wet room corner if I find the wc or towels on the rail are getting wet. So CT1 to the floor and leave a gap at the top and fill with CT1?
  10. I get told off by the wife / doctors even as I don't chew food. Can't bear the texture of "chewed" food. Steak, anything really - tear a chunk and swallow. People have made comparisons to a dog. I always finish my meal first and don't have an off switch especially with meat. (I don't sleep during a full moon either!)
  11. Granola's pretty good. I'll eat it it dry as a snack.
  12. So there's no "lateral" fixing to the bottom of the glass? The glass doesn't butt against say the floor tiles or in a channel between floor tiles and mosaics? And does the glass go from floor to ceiling or is there a gap at the top?
  13. To be fair to the seller it does say it cuts cast iron on the packet. Just pees me off the ad doesn't say they're Silverline. Ordered a deep cut, genuine Starrett now.
  14. I dunno, lead a horse to water and all that! The CORRECT response was " I always let her go large! "
  15. Order these "PRO" hole saws and they're actually Silverline brand! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332169159721?euid=bf18a43f38834226b365bcad1ad70afd&bu=43108661604&cp=1&sojTags=bu=bu Quite what gives the seller the right to call them PRO is beyond me. Bought one in a rush expecting I'd get 44mm of cutting depth i.e to go thru a bit of "4"x2" that comes up about 44mm thick. 44mm is the o/a length of the thing.
  16. Slacker! Seriously that roof looks the business. Slap up meal, I hope you let her go large!
  17. You mean half round pvc? Like this maybe: http://www.drainagecentral.co.uk/112mm-Half-Round-PVCu-to-Right-Hand-Ogee-Gutter-Adaptor-BR492?gclid=Cj0KCQjwh_bLBRDeARIsAH4ZYEPiigSbylQLW_CKtwzUMjkVRJWreQYLmN5_yc5jglb6wjs9RXk16w8aAlyuEALw_wcB Need to know r/h or l/h.
  18. Debating whether to loose fill this "cavity" with EPS packing chips?
  19. Don't know if these offerings just seen at Costco are any good, value wise:
  20. Are these plastic, wheeled tool boxes any good? Down to £20 in The Range: Plastic hinges but I was half tempted just for somewhere to chuck the "in use" tools.
  21. Greetings & welcome. Abuse given freely! Nice photos. Got a plan view?
  22. Could you... Isolate the mains and shove a trace wire down the middle of the existing pipe but go from both ends so less to push etc?
  23. Well the 9mm packing ply seems to have worked. The soil pipe has pretty much disappeared and the Aquapanel will sail over it: The Geberit wall drain's going to be fun! Some careful adapting of the studwork there I think. Might have to reverse the 50mm waste and bring it out to the right then shift the drain left where there's more depth to get the drain in (old doorway I think) and some nominal insulation behind. Might have to rethink the mitred wall corner. It was all meant for a corner wall drain to start with. The Seven P's!
  24. He did. Though thinking about it it'd put a joint in an inaccessible place.
  25. Missus did ours again today! I'm going to whack a jump start pack on the battery to see if the starter/solenoid are ok and that it turns over on the key. Then maybe buy a new one of these and a solar cell to trickle charge it.
