Moving loads of plumbing and plumbing in plastic...
Onoff replied to Carrerahill's topic in General Plumbing
Did some mods here 20 years ago when we bought the place all in the grey, chunky Hep2O. On the quick to get CH upstairs as there wasn't any, had the new baby etc. Copper pipe and all joins Hep2O. Not one fitting a problem. Stuck my finger in one of those serrated rings once...lesson learnt. Made one cock up more recently trying to swap innards between circa 1998 grey Hep2O and the newer stuff. Looks similar but a bit more streamlined. It leaked but didn't burst. My fault that. -
You can all go and do one! It's the one half decent bit of this place! ?

I did seriously look at those click together formers. Really, really happy mind with how mine came out.

£516.99!!! Real men make their own:
-
It's definitely a niche thing...
-
You can either form them yourself like I did: Or buy them ready made like @pocster has just done. (I was limited on depth).

Could you move door D4 to the right so it opens towards the window? That'd free up a square corner in the bathroom for a decent sized shower. I'd still square off that V though. With hindsight I might have had the wc on my squared off corner and had a walk in shower in the adjacent corridor through the old doorway!
-
Best idea ? That V shaped internal corner is going to be a really useless space.

Don't have a tray at all and tile to falls? Where's the drain going?
-
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with those terms.

A big, central steel (red), off the the existing (red) RSJ across the opening was my initial thought. Then new, deeper (black) beams was the plan. I know the concept but have no ideas how to calc the sizes.

So write to PayPal stating that. -
400, 450, 600 centres? Flitch beam spacing or was there just the one? I'd need up to 9 such beams: Just realised there is/are flitch beams in this house now. Didn't put two and two together! I've the dormer extension drawings that I got (as a freebie) from BC a couple of years back.

Ta. What centres?

Collecting the materials for finishing my roof

I don't know if you have the time to investigate but my mate bought Spax (decking) screws from here in bulk. Even with shipping they were miles cheaper than he could have bought them in the UK. Not sure how / if the whole Brexit thing will have affected things as it was pre this: https://www.klokow-gmbh.de/ -
If you've any old style Jenolite liquid, that contains phosphoric acid and works too but you can't do patches. It's the whole lot or nothing.

How does your garden grow?

I could have picked you one up with myxomatosis this morning and posted it to spread the love. We've got it locally as happens periodically. Not pleasant to see the poor little sods all blind and emaciated. -
Wouldn't the angled face want to be a glazed face?

Flitch beams...I never knew they were called that! Wondering if x2 9"x3"s sistered, with a steel plate inbetween would span 5860/6060mm and negate the need for supporting steels. I came across this flitch beam calculator. Worth spending £20? https://www.yourspreadsheets.co.uk/flitch-beam-design-to-bs-5268.html

I see you lurking & mocking my tiling @pocster Surprised it took this long, all this talk of open bottoms and semis! ?
-
I've got it...how about a gabion as a pedestal? I think it'd look the nuts.
-
Go for a tiled box I would. Tapering in on all sides so you can get (via your feet) closer in to the sink. ?
-
Yes it was, thanks. Thinking now though, that a clear, reinforced tarp might be better for my needs.
