  1. Something like this: https://www.builderdepot.co.uk/150mm-thermalite-shield-aircrete-block-3-6n-215mm-x-440mm
  2. Bloke in Porthcawl selling 5m scissor lifts for £450. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/pop-up-scissor-lift/254484142815?hash=item3b406fdadf:g:pBwAAOSwoMFeIY2p
  3. One of these would be ideal... http://www.gulfcoastcargolifts.com/cargo-lifts/4582276255
  4. Is it an actual cast concrete or concrete block wall? Only asking because "wall mounted" swing jibs are a thing. You would need a bfo vertical column however, about 3m higher than where you would be lifting say an upright freezer from.
  5. Wait till it fills up from the leaky roof lights then lob whatever in and it'll slowly sink!
  6. A-frame gantry? Difficult without seeing the wider site conditions. What's going over "the hole"? Build an I beam into a pergola structure? Any higher structures adjacent?
  7. Not a wind up. It was an @nod tip and it works a treat: Got mine in Tesco: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/282995951
  8. Old plaster goes off quicker then a quick thing. I don't know how old is old though? I know you can retard plaster setting with Cream of Tartar - I've done it and it works a treat. A boon if you're a newbie to spreading it and slow anyway. Don't know if it'd give you a bit more time on old stuff?
  9. Has it got a spotty stem a bit like a snakes skin?
  10. Sure he hasn't buried a petrol tank(er)?
  11. Is it true you should always try and pull nettles up roots and all?
  12. I "framed out" for a number of reasons: 1) Primarily to square the room off and add insulation (down to a minimum of 50mm). 2) To plumb the walls, I only found out how "out they were once I started. 3) To hide the concealed WC & other pipework. 4) To create feature recesses.
  13. Found at random about bases for "garden rooms". Seems sensible: https://www.gardenaffairs.co.uk/blog-offering-inspiration-expert-advice/how-to-build-a-base-for-your-garden-building
  14. If you were to do a concrete base you compact hardcore within levelled shuttering: Once the hardcore is pretty much level you "blind" it with sand. This is to protect the DPM you lay next (damp proof membrane). (Tbh I laid down a load of old flattened, rubble bags too). Not shown is a layer of A142 mesh in there. Then fill with concrete. Took me about 4 hours to mix, lay and tidy up on my own: Then tamp it all flat with a long straight board: With the shuttering off you can see the (blue) dpm all round the edge.
  15. The previous owner secured pp for the garage here that is well forward of the principle elevation albeit off to one side. Though still a fair distance from the road, as the house itself is, they insisted the garage had a hip end or so I was told.
  16. Is that the only water course into the quarry/lake (other than rain ?)?
  17. At a push you could use Excel...or Word
  18. It swallows money.....in a downward direction. "Raised" in this context is actually a modern bastardisation of "erase". "Razed" I think in some old text.
  19. I'd raise this money pit to the ground given the chance...new bathroom and all! Oh, and I don't particularly "love it". ?
  20. Have a look at what @ProDave did in "Main Bathroom Complete": http://www.willowburn.net/ Imo 600 wide panels are a bit daft and introduce an unnecessary joint. Wider panels the way to go with as few joints as possible.
  21. Missed that bit!
  22. I presume it's insured? The electrical wiring must be in a bit of a state, add to that highly flammable vermin nests... Just saying... ?
  23. Clear CT1?
