  1. It wasn't well: We made it at least better: Had to source a new transaxle back end, rebuild the pcb, derust bits using hot citric acid & electrolysis etc. My lad even managed to bring back the completely dead lead acid wet battery. Cleaned it with a bicarbonate of soda solution about 10% bicarb. That reacts & cleans all the crap off the plates. Rinsed. Then filled with 12% Epsom salt solution and trickle charged for 24 hours. Up to about 13V and has started the mower no problem half a dozen times. That's with the Epsom salt solution still in and no "real" acid. These Westwood's mind are a bit crash, bang, agricultural compared to the John Deere. A lad on the mig welding forum took one like mine and refurbed it. Removed the cutting deck etc. Takes his grandson to the shops on it!
  2. Never worked out the sq.m area here... Most of the big boiler is used heating cold loft space or under the suspended floor! ?
  3. The jet thing, 0.55USgal/hr....any relevance to the 0.9gals/h flow rate? Got the 90/120 model:
  4. So what gases etc would you look for? Would an automotive one do? It did but wondering if the flow is enough?

    Diy

    Is that Venetian plaster?
  6. Is it a case you have to drain down to swap one of these Willis immersions out? Would it be worth putting in isolation valves at install to assist in this task?
  7. Just throwing it out there...could the external, fire check valve be mucky inside and/or the flow be slower in cold weather? I could have sworn I changed this...
  8. As others have said keeping them clean is key. I push ours on it's side and hose it off periodically. You can buy or make a stand that you drive onto then jack it up. This is typical: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lifter-Lifting-Device-Garden-Tractor/dp/B00OV5JKLK I think I used Pro-Cote Cold Galv Spray from T'station (quite a fan of it). Also Simoniz Tough Black spray paint. I got a couple of cans of "orange" top coat from Halfords, it was a country mile off of the original Westwood colour! ? There's a lawnmower forum when you're ready...
  9. I ripped it off of @Jeremy Harris's thread on Willis heaters.
  10. Willis heaters fitted the right way up! ? Any help as to what's under the lid?
  11. What make mower is it? We've just got a tired, freebie Westwood T1200 going. Got an even older even more tired MTD Lawnflite to do one day...
  12. Hours of fun! https://www.flickr.com/gp/122042403@N05/Kfv7Z0
  13. I've still got this kit to do my wet room corner: https://www.slipdoctors.co.uk/a/s/products/anti-slip-for-porcelain-enamel
  14. Ta. There's a bearing either end of the motor. If the one the pump end was dry then the fan end one might be too? Not a spare part, the bearings, according to the manual but 6202 2RS seem to be the beasties from a quick search. I've just ordered a couple from NI, says "fits Riello". Not even shown on the ga drawing: https://www.tubeclamps.co.uk/fittings.htm I'll look at the PCB too thanks.
  15. The @Nickfromwales trick of 20 odd turns of tape hasn't failed me yet! Outside bib tap, the shower etc.
  16. Don't get runs with tape..... ?
  17. Nothing compares! ?
  18. Yep, clean as.
  19. He said for £75 he'll remove the baffles and clean it out (I've done that), replace the jet (I can do that but haven't gone there yet) and I think he said change the filter and "generally check it out". As above he said it gets to a point when he'll just at suggest changing the whole burner. Looks to be about £300 for a new burner online. I can do that. I'll make sure the pressure is correct to start with and ask the BiL (diesel fitter). I just want to know what the issue is!
  20. B@ll@cks! ? Boiler stopped. No red lockout lamp on but pressing it (the combined lockout lamp/reset button) and she fired up.
  21. She fires, she runs. All heating up here. Let's see how it goes but the pump looks the issue. Thanks for all the pointers and assistance ?
  22. With the old pump rotating freely I refitted but no dice ? just locking up still. New pump on and she fires and runs. In the absence of a gauge I decided as you suggested @dpmiller, to whip out the baffles and gauge the flame by eye for now (no sight gauge btw). Tbh I was amazed by the amount of crumbly, flaky, "debris" in there on the baffles. I don't remember it that bad when I last cleaned it out and made new baffles (2015?). What is it, something from incomplete combustion, mill scale off the baffle I made? All scraped off and hoovered up now. Little video, flame nearly reaching the back wall...look alright? VID_20210214_101704350.mp4 Just got to remember how the baffles went, as in gap at the front/back. Seem to recall having this issue before! ?
  23. Different section in the regs for swimming pools. You can have socket outlets if certain requirements are met.
  24. BS7671 the "electrical regs" are not statutory i.e not law but "may be used as a defence in law". So complying is best as insurers etc will refer to them should it all go tits up. The building regs however are statutory. The mentalness of it being someone has to then write a guide as to the god practice of implementing them...the guide isn't statutory ?
