So, so sad ? There's what was really nicely built cabins, roofs knackered, garages with electrically operated doors (not roller shutters), again roofs knackered. The acreage is on terraces going up a hillside. Every terrace a bfo "shed", different from the last. Then there's all the cars... VID_20210216_163949061.mp4 At the end of the day for what? All done in good faith, the upkeep I guess became too much and it fell into disrepair. Pride, (senility?), I guess stopped them from "getting a man in" to fix it all. Left to some poor sod to sort when they're gone. Took No.2 daughter with us and made the joke she'd be doing similar one day! ?

That's 3 of us agreed then.

Except he's talking complete bollocks imho. Under General requirements in Section 701 it says that protective measures such as obstacles and placing out of reach is not permitted. He refers to previous regs that say placing out of reach is OK I think. He uses out of reach as justification. Previous regs don't come into it if designing to the 18th. Your M&E team were correct imo.

All the roofs of the various buildings are caved in / rotted through. She's already brought these back:

Well... told SWMBO I don't want it and am not interested in working on it or spending any money on it! It'll clean up she says ? Rest of the place is sad/eerie:

Got the pressure gauge in the post today and found the pressure a tad high, nearly 9bar. Lowered to 8bar as per the book. Screws straight into the hex extension piece on the burner with some PTFE tape round the1/8" BSP thread.

Brother wants to get himself a battery circular saw. I've suggested Makita 18V with at least 5Ah batteries. Brushless of course. Any recommendations on models. Not too big. Ta.

My house, I have half an acre with the house pretty much slap bang in the centre. Years back the (my) house had 5 acres (as did all the houses down here). At one time, in the dim and distant my (then 5 acre) plot allegedly had pp for 12 dwellings that was never taken up and has long lapsed. Back then it was under a different district council etc. Development potential here, not a chance. You can get knock down and rebuild. Best you get is 50% on an previously unextended property. You might get an annexe if you're lucky. AONB etc. I think someone the opposite side of the valley managed to extend massively by cutting into the hillside and going semi underground. I imagine though they're not in the £7/m2 tile bracket like I am though!

+1 Also the aftercare and servicing may be different for different "brands" i.e. you pay a premium for a "better" brand/label. It goes beyond the nuts and bolts now.

As soon as @pocster can trvel it's a plan! ?

? It seriously crossed my mind! I suggested last night we use the caravan to store the THREE freebie leather and one freebie corduroy sofas she saw fit to give a good home too when they were being chucked by friends. Currently stored on end in the downstairs bedroom where there's probably 1m2 of floor space left. A cunning plan is forming.....make the caravan watertight and store all the tat in the stairs room there so I can dig that up! She also has fallen in love with an Inglenook walk in fireplace on the property. Not in the main house but one of the outbuildings that was they think to be turned into a school years ago. Shed loads (literally) of old furniture there too. I'm hoping for a look see later maybe. Time capsule it sounds like. The Repair Shop and that Drew fella would be in heaven. Pics to follow!

Plasterboard on blockwork - missing milimiters
Onoff replied to Olf's topic in Plastering & Rendering
Idiot that I am... I ended up with 2470mm, finished floor to u/side of joists. I bought 2700mm boards so a fair bit left over. As i put the new ceiling joist in anyway, all I had to do was lower them or counter batten and create a service void. Would have saved me so much grief in terms of silly tile rips at the ceiling, airtightness at the ceiling etc. Should have, could have, would have... -

Came home last night to find an assortment of wooden chests of draws etc on the patio. Turns out a neighbour is exchanging contracts on his parents old house and "everything must go". 5 acre plot with loads of overgrown and hidden, big sheds. Apparently they found a CARAVAN there yesterday.....which it appears we're having! ? According to SWMBO "it's a bit rotten"..."something to do with a skylight that I could fix with CT1". My life just gets better.

HA? It's the ending I like: VID-20210215-WA0002.mp4

It can help to score the area where say the coving is going. Thus you scratch through the distemper layer and "key" the surface.
