  1. It's normal, the mold is actually eating the sugars in the timber. Will go away and it will all weather
  2. Looks like superglass loft insulation?
  3. It's defo cold. Yesterday I thought the pipe to our caravan froze, turns out I just forgot I'd turned the borehole pump off. But today it did freeze a wee bit and then spent most of the day getting ice out the pipe to our washing machine in our porch as there is no insulation there. 😂
  4. That's both including material after the VAT reclaim. I have about 830m2 to cover. £8m2 for walls and celings for taping and filling including materials.
  5. Got some prices back. £8k for taping and filling £11k for plastering Both very reputable which the joiners (whom I know and trust). At 37% more expensive I will likely go with taping and filling, I did want plastering but taping and filling is the standard in Scotland a the guys doing it come highly recommended.
  6. Exactly as the title says Ordering off BPC this week but asked them if the premium valves look OK in each room. Would like to see some in position if possible.
  7. That's exactly the issue I'm trying to avoid. Might just stick with normal toilets. We don't have an issue with hard water so no limescale build up.
  8. I'm currently doing first fix - I want to buy the grohe rapid sl frames. But it doesn't say they are rimless? There is no adjustment on the flush so they don't say its rimless, now the rimless toilets might be fine with 3/6l which the rapid sl gives but I currently don't know. I could buy the slx which is rimless ready but it has a host of other stuff which I don't need and is infinitely more expensive. We don't specifically need rimless but it would be nice to know anyone has used to ripd sl with a rimless toilet?
  9. Checked last night currently with 5.79%with ecology. I've been with them for over 2 years. Hoping to finish up and remortage in April.
  10. @Mike_scotland same question to you? Just about to order bathroom stuff
  11. I'm about to do this, I have a big pendant providing light for the dining table and couches, three pendants over the island, and think we will have an led strip up the way around the perimeter lighting the vault. Possibly from ARC or similar
  12. That's strange totally contradicts what BPC say albeit it is a vent axia system they are offering. Thanks
  13. I only have deep flow I'm actually going with 1 downpipe now on 1 elevation - was 3. I have watched and tested it when it rains. It rains very heavy here and ALOT west of Scoland.
  14. We have been talking about the rise, but it quite a jump to go to 49p. Albeit the government has put in for the next few months that will come to an end and we will be paying that much.
  15. I noticed last night that it's currently 49.15p/kWh for electricity (with octopus 2021 v1 variable) Plus it's shows a 17p/kWh reduction (although I think that it's just incidental the kWh price) which equates to 66 quid reduction after VAT. Surely that kWh price is crazy? Why is nobody talking about that?
  16. Interestingly I just had design done by BPC, they put a supply in my hall which I wasn't expecting. But they said do not add ducts directly over showers and baths
  17. I'm just about to make a decision on this but get very conflicting reports. Saying that taping and filling around £6.50m2. Approx £15m2 for plastering. I'm gonna get prices for both but the joiner( whom I trust very much) gave me the rough prices and a contact who is excellent that does the taping and filling. Scotland so taping and filling is the norm.
  18. I need to buy these now. Did you you buy the grohe ones? Also would be good to know about the flush plates too. Thanks
  19. Thanks all. Crucially I should have added 'ago' to the walking bit (I've been walking alone for the last 4 weeks). Onwards and upwards
  20. I've been gone for some time, around 9 weeks. I'd had a stroke back in August whilst at our caravan, getting us ready to move in 2 weeks later. For the technical people (everyone on here!) I had a dissect of the artery in my cerebellum. Artery opened for a few seconds, which caused a clot and then caused a stroke. The change was instant and I spent 5 weeks in hospital, however home now (well was home for a week now in the caravan, which im very happy about). Its affected me physically on my right side. 9 weeks I couldn't walk, but now I can so very happy. It's just one of those things, I wasn't doing too much (even though I was doing a lot) sometimes it can be caused by trauma, but well never know the answer to that. I was only 39 (now 40!) , fit and healthy, as above its just one of those things. I'll make a full recovery, and no more likely to have a dissect than others are which is low so all good. I've been positive throughout and intend to be, just another hurdle which is no problem.
  21. Very very wrong. Phone them back to sort.
  22. This is the thread you want. My advice is to spunk the cash make peace and get on with it. The German prices are infinitely cheaper and then you pay German vat, but they then refund it and you pay uk import duty. I can look out the invoices if required. But for talking sake it was 1500 quid vs 2400 in UK. Madness... I chose the intello rather than the plus, no need for the plus unless you are using it to hold insulation in place like blown cellulose or similar or need it to be stronger. Get the tescon vanadium tapes also.
  23. @JohnMo @Barryscotland I've been trying to figure out if the GSE trays could sit directly on sarking (I actually have sarking them 25mm ventilation then sips roof. So found the answer here thanks! All been ok with both your panels just as you'd mentioned the ventilation thing there. I'm in Scotland also and just considering ripping off my slates to fit PV panels...which I wish I'd done before getting it slated last year. doh.
  24. I'm on octopus variable at our build, however Octopus made a cod of it and couldnt figure out I have two addresses (one being current house and other self build) so they dont bill the self build. I've only used 70kWH so far at build, but it's been connected since December but haven't actually been billed. I've move out into the caravan shortly at the build, so will hopefully have reduced usage until we get in house, but even at that not sure how long it will take them to figure that and bill me. Now all I know is I regret mot getting solar even more...might buy the panels as we go into winter when hopefully more available and cheaper. If that will even exist.
  25. It's essentially putting together a new wayleave which involves a legal process so similar to that of conveyancing. If you have gone direct to SP energy networks it'll be competitive and also mostly hassle free when they come to do it. I crossed three fields, total 6 poles, all with different owners and installed a new transformer too - all done by them. Apart from taking a little time coordinating land owners it was relatively hassle free.
