  1. All builders merchants closed round here, I'd ordered and paid for a load of stuff I needed for the build, the next day they closed and email to say will only be deliver after the current situation is over, so months! luckily the brick were delivered, however the brickie texted me to say that he was entering 12 weeks of isolation due to an underlying condition.
  2. My pipes run inside the house, do they need insulation?
  3. It’s about 15m run out to the ASHP and 15m return.
  4. how about something like this. Built using new timber and 120mm of insulation in the walls and roof. 50m2, lounge/kitchen, double bedroom, shower room and storage space over bedroom. Total cost £30k. If you use secondhand free stuff you could probably do it for half that price. ps local builders merchant are closing tonight and no online ordering or delivery to site.
  5. I’m going to install an ASHP, no idea which one, but around 6kw in size. What size pipe work do I need 15 or 22mm?
  6. Any idea how much acid is required per metre ?
  7. They’re inside, lots of black marks and water stains, so a light sand blast is in order.
  8. Our oak beams were installed during the wettest month of the year, consequently they need cleaning. Once clean, what is the best option for sealing them?
  9. Yes, switch on the pump and water comes out of the spout.
  10. I paid £1,182 for 24 months cover based on the Quantity Surveyors estimated rebuild cost of £425k. The current rebuild valuation is £519k, as a result the renewal quote has gone up to £1758 for 12 moths cover. Following a bit of shopping around Ive got the renewal down to £951.
  11. When I walk round our village at night it’s surprising how many are permanently in darkness, either being under used second homes or unoccupied investment properties.
  12. We all know Scottish self builders are loaded, so let’s milk them!
  13. The standard stuff I’ve ordered is blue!
  14. Just what I was thinking. When I placed the order I stated standard plastic duct but they priced for the “pro” duct at £55 extra per roll, adding £490 to the total cost! I’m now sorting that out with them.
  15. So the plastic duct is coated inside with something?
  16. Can anyone explain anti-static plastic ducting, what makes it anti-static?
  17. Im about to order the ducting and have been offered anti bacterial and anti static ducting at £145 a 50m roll. I see they have standard ducting at £85 a roll. Do I really need the expensive stuff?
  18. She had a small amount of cloths airing in the flat, I think the main problem is the fact it’s an open plan studio style flat, kitchen and living room all one space. The damp appears as a light dusting all over the cathedral ceiling, not associated with a gutter or a slipped slate.
  19. Visited a friend last night in her new flat. All the walls have a slight hint of mildew. It appears fairly airtight, could it be cured by improving ventilation!?
  20. What sort of sealant?
  21. I moved two 20foot containers using round fence posts as rollers. The containers were dropped in the driveway and I moved them up onto site, about 60m. I used a mini digger to pull them and repositioned the rollers as they popped out from the rear of the container. I’d be very careful moving them using a telehandler as steel on steel slides very easily and the containers could well fall off the forks. Made sure you use the fork slots in the base of each container.
  22. If you get rid of the mixing /blending valve and manifold pump you could revert to just having one pump. According to what others have said the Willis heaters should regulate the temperature, doing away with need to blend? PS - Ive just ordered bare manifolds and will connect these up directly to the Willis heater and use a standard recirculating pump set up. Ill set a low temperature on the Willis and see how it works.
  23. So was I. Can’t see why you would need a second pump in a closed system?
  24. There was no mention of Harvi at checkout, only the Hub!? I’d read up on Harvi but wasn’t sure about what the Hub did, Hence my confusion.
  25. I’m about to purchase an Eddi PV diverter, however when I added it to the shopping basket it suggests I also need the Eddi Hub. I’m not sure what this is? Do I actually need it, also what does it do, in layman’s terms please.
