Have Building Control Confirmed I Have Now Started My House Build?
joe90 replied to PXR5's topic in Planning Permission
I too had a neighbour that reported me fir starting without planning, in fact i was doing other work on site not covered by planning, I got to know the enforcement officer quite well (he knew about the neighbours beef) so before I did anything I would ring him and tell him what I was doing that day so when the neighbour rang him he would back me up . -
Yes, spark quench etc did not work , can someone point me at a suitable relay please or a suitable GTO as posted by @SteamyTea above (I would prefer the solid state solution). My reading of the GTO is that it acts exactly like a relay (applied voltage switches on, voltage off switches off 🤯).

Adding panels myself? (Inverter & cables already installed!)

Well that’s good news! -
I have had one of these for years and found it very handy, gets into small spaces, blades are cheap and pruning ones available. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256202734700?hash

I had a bloke tell me that once but I proved he had been doing it WRONG for 20 years, never saw him again 😉

Reading this makes me realise again how lucky I was with my builders. I did all my own stud work and found it very rewarding. I got soo much satisfaction from my build and proud of what I did, it’s why we “self build”.

Definitely, I hate listening to people using old bits and thinking “camming out” is normal.

Concrete Cavity Fill Techniques For Large Houses and Volumes

This is the one line I liked and always repeat, “work smarter not harder”. -
Agree with the above, yours and your contractors VAT are separate. HOWEVER, because I used a VAT reclaim co. to do mine (I am useless with paperwork) they discovered my builder had made a mistake (genuine I know) and the builder gave be back about a grand. Unless you know you are good at paperwork I would recommend https://www.vat431.co.uk He even contacted companies to get the correct receipts when I got it wrong, it actually cost me less than doing it myself (if I could get it right 🤷♂️).

@SteamyTea and I used joss sticks on my build.
-
This happened to me on a house I sold, I managed to contact the surveyor (you can search on the internet somewhere) who agreed to alter it on my say so of what I knew about the house.
-
BUT, did you tell them that???, they may not have understood but if you did tell them then rectification is their problem.
-
I agree, luckily my ecologist was very reasonable and allowed me to build bat boxes myself into my garage to their basic design (left over ply etc), also when I won the planning appeal the officer told the planners they were not qualified to overrule the ecologist and insist bat boxes were also installed in the house 👍.

By the decorators?, did you specify what was to be painted? , if so I believe it’s their responsibility to put their mistake right.

As long as there are no caviats in it , case closed m,lud, tell him to sue you 🖕I am sure those of us that have been self employed have underestimated a job or two and had to learn from our mistake by sucking it up, he’s just chancing his luck.

Correct IMO, that plastic “support” is better than some that use metal C shaped support (which bends when tightened). The “O” ring in its slot in the tap provides water proofing to the sink, washer spreads the load and nut tightens it all up, I still think the screws may help stop the nut undoing (locking devise 🤷♂️). I found this devise invaluable for accessing and tightening/undoing tap nuts. https://www.toolstation.com/adjustable-basin-wrench/p81935

Never seen one of those with screws, usually the nut tightens the unit to the sink/worktop, perhaps to stop the tap revolving 🤷♂️ (clever these Chinese)
