  1. But, can packing the gap do any harm? Common sense says not (IMO). despite the technical knowledge supplied by @Gus Potter can squeezing two separate metal panels together with no support between be correct? What torque was used to tighten the bolts?. I am no SE, but that just looks wrong mechanically.
  2. Fir fecks sake !!!, got the resistor and capacitor as per @Onoff,s post above (why does nobody sell them singly?) wired it up on my test bench and!!!!” The LED,s pulse about once a second permanently 🤯 it’s as tho the resistor/capacitor is charging and discharging to activate the LED,s with the magnet activating the Reed the LED,s are on as should be. Can any guru out there help? (I think I will stick to woodwork).
  3. How much would they give you off the price fir accepting it? (And shortening the battens 🤷‍♂️).
  4. +1, I made a jar rack fir the inside of my larder unit, piece of cake 😇 (sorry no pic) made from pine and a dowel to stop jars falling off (I hate deep cupboards where stuff gets lost at the back) .
  5. Yes, more than just boarding, more corners etc so not unreasonable IMO
  6. They are also causing distortion !
  7. Well I would not be happy with that and I would put spacers in there, if only a chunk of timber. Anyone else got a view?
  8. As the weight of the doors is on this plate it seems to me the “pin” and “screw” hold the plate still (no sliding on the floor), can you not cut the pin short (depth of the tile) and the screw to act as location pins along with suitable glue. At what depth is your UFH pipes? Alternatively recess the plate within the tile to stop sliding 🤷‍♂️
  9. That is bad IMO those bolts are bound to distort the frame, what does the instructions say?, best confirm this with the manufacturer.
  10. Surely the person who did the drawings should sort this out ? Sounds like a typo to me but needs confirming.
  11. I recently got a retrospective warranty on my build with no initial one, not all mortgage companies accept them tho. They inspected the build and council documentation.
  12. Is the overflow pipe supported, I have come across numerous ones sagging, no cement in joins and gunge collects in the low spot leading to leaks 🤷‍♂️
  13. Frankly it’s just not getting what you paid for, in terms of legal purchase jargon “not fit for purpose “.
  14. Float gear looks new ish, best to test the overflow by holding the float down and seeing what happens. I agree that mold shows damp for some time IMO.
  15. Being a bit OCD I used to support board to board edges not over studs with scraps of ply or timber, don’t have to be noggins (IMO).
  16. You say the concrete is newly poured but the pipe is in the trench, ? Which is it?
  17. Can you not turn individual things off for one night (going to bed till getting up) and see if it makes a difference? ( @SteamyTea had a fridge that used a lot of lecky and needed replacing).
  18. I have been hit twice!, once in Shropshire, hit a chimney and blew tiles off the wall on the ground floor where the chimney met the floor, second was in Bristol, again a tall chimney, bricks ended up 30m up the garden and every electrical devise in the house damaged.. both covered by insurance so no big deal. (My son was pleased, he got a new x box 🤣)
  19. Or a short piece of copper pipe from the olive conn then hep20 !
  20. Why, unlike France where all building trades are licensed we are not, you have seen what I have done, I met all the building regulations, I never had a customer complaint when I worked as a builder and I wonder how many builders out there have been on a course? How many self builders here have been on a course (unless product specific like GRP).?
  21. Yep hessian wrap as insulation or anti squeak when running over joists as in the picture (i am that old to remember it’s usage decades ago 😱).
  22. I have never been on a building course of any sort (tho BT taught me electric basics). Yes I do think apprenticeships are important but in my years being a builder I agree with @Tom the level of care amongst most is very poor, so even if you did do a “course” if your level of care is poor they will never be good.
  23. Yes it’s all about the pre, mistakes are made by wading in before adequate thought is made on how it’s to be done. 👍
  24. Well done 👍
