Kingspan heating (or lack of) issue
joe90 replied to Lynford's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
I bought a Kingspan ASHP on Ebay and at the time command units were hard to come by, I phoned carrier in America and they gave me a telephone number of their depot in Southampton ( I think) which had them In stock and they sold me one. ( I am yet to install it so will be watching this thread with interest). -
Well I have got deep window reveals ( angled to let more light in, and it works really well) deep door reveals also angled, but 100 mm block inner walls, this enabled me to have 200mm cavity which is full of insulation. My build is very solid and i don’t understand why you would want 200 mm inner walls as the 100mm I have is rock solid.

I must admit I powerfloated my last garage floor and it left a really good finish, non dusty and quite resilient to fluids. I am just a little knarked that I was too late to powerfloat my current garage floor so ended up with a rougher finish but painted it to avoid dust and stains ( it is only a garage after all).

If it’s render I would worry about scratching when it’s being wiped off if it’s not protected.

Nod, the builders prefer to skim after fitting the stairs that is why the undercoat has already been done. This is the way they always do it and get the best results ( and they have been brilliant up to now).
-
Thanks, my plasterers are great and no problems so far it’s just that I don’t want to stain the oak ( as it cost so much ?)
-
Hooray, our stairs have arrived and they are all oak, I have bought a roll of cheap carpet to cover all the treads till such time as Work boots etc have left the premesis. My question is we are yet to have the stairwell plastered ( sand and cement render coat is already done) so how best to protect the oak against staining from the plaster being applied up to it.

From what I have read biscuits that you buy are made from compressed wood chips and fit the slot but soak up the glue and expand to make it a very tight fit.

Because of problems during the initial build we were unable to go with 100mm concrete floor with UFH and have just laid 70mm flow screed for the UFH ( we were told they don’t do more than 70mm with this particular product).
-
The reclaimed wood we were considering was 40mm thick.
-
I think old flooring looks great so well done , we have given up with the idea of reclaimed wood ( downstairs with UFH) as the amount of work to machine it down to the 15mm or so we need for decent heat transference is just too much work at present and will put back our completion time.

Brickwork damp patch after prolonged heavy rain
joe90 replied to readiescards's topic in General Construction Issues
I have a similar problem with my west facing wall, permenantly soggy ( well it has been such a wet winter/ summer). My builder ( who’s been brilliant) has suggested a water proofing agent on that wall ( when/if it dries out in the summer) he has done this many times in our location next to the Atlantic ?. -
DONT TALK TO ME ABOUT PLANNERS, they wasted two years of my life. It appears their only intention in life is to refuse permission wherever they can. Don’t give up. Yes a street scene ( sketch roughly to scale showing yours against the neighbours including all hedges) will make a lot of difference. Long story short I went to appeal and the Secretary of State department came down firmly on my side and said my application was completely acceptable and the local planning authority were not abiding by their own policies ?. p.s. the planners kept telling me our ridge line was too high as the property next door was only 6.9m high, I went round and measured it and it was 1.2 m higher than they had planning for, so our ridge was lower than theirs!!!!. I would not pay them in washers. rant over!

I have bought a few parkside tools and found them to be good for the price ( three year warranty if I remember and made in Ireland?)

Floor bounce - PosiJoist Floor Vibration checks
joe90 replied to readiescards's topic in Floor Structures
Reading the spec on the first post you have the actual dead load deflection and pre camber figures, can you not measure this and if it’s wrong you have evidence. I agree with Nick, ply noggins would help a lot ( rather than rip it out ?). -
Floor bounce - PosiJoist Floor Vibration checks
joe90 replied to readiescards's topic in Floor Structures
I have no idea, but all I know is my builder spaces his engineered joists at 400mm not 600 because it’s firmer and I agree ( and glad he did) ? -

Thank Dave, what volume of stone did you use for your partial soakaway? -

joe90 replied to albert's topic in Waste & Sewerage
Yes, I think we will have to have the same, any link to exactly how this is done, dimensions, volumes etc? -
I could not agree more with the above, I have been studying health and food for the last 10 years, a recent blood test showed I had a wheat intolerance but not gluten intolerant.

I forgot to say the Vortex also has multiple bubble sizes to ensure maximum oxygen delivery. -
Dr Moseley,s latest book talks about gut biome and natural births, the baby gets a mouthful of mums fluids during the birth which seeds the gut bacteria, this does not happen during a Caesarian births and some doctors advocate a swab of “mum” and given to the child. sorry if your eating ?
-
Yup, we are all ears Nick. I have some 24 inch stilsons if you want ? could you not burrow into the fibre washer around around the edges to get some sort of release fluid into the washer itself ( but careful not to damage the flange)?
