  1. Gosh, what ever happened to the donkey jacket, it’s all high viz nowadays ( is there a connection between this thread and the one about safety harnesses?)
  2. Jeez, that puts H@S into perspective, I just watched the one where Fred climbed over an overhang but my question is “ who put the ladders up?”. I have never had a problem with heights, been a skydiver and a mountaineer in a past life but nowadays I do feel more “ cautious”.
  3. Brilliant, well done mate, onwards and upwards.?
  4. Thanks “Barney”, just looked at the three ports and they have two, one at £73 and one at £63, both Honeywell but different item numbers but no indication what the difference is between them. Any pointers?
  5. I am buying kit to connect my ASHP up and need a three port 22mm valve, I am amazed at price differences, £22 -£100. What are people’s advice?, are the cheap ones not worth bothering with or are the dear ones money for old rope?. Any recommendations welcome.
  6. Brilliant Nick, yes, guess I will be using the Tupperware for my sandwiches, off to Plumbase to get two now.? another good example of the of the wealth of knowledge the forum gives its members. many thanks to all.
  7. Thanks, yes I saw that but don’t need half the kit and I was not sure if the 12kw model used the same kit!!
  8. I am struggling to find a supplier of the correct hoses for my Kingspan ASHP. the thread measures O/D 1 1/4 “ or 32mm. From my reading on tinternet this is a 1” BSP thread!. Also the original Kingspan manual shows their hoses as having a 90’ end ( like a washing machine hose). Also I would like them insulated if possible. Any heads up on suppliers would be welcome.
  9. Will do !
  10. Brilliant idea, could not find a bottle that fit anyway ?
  11. I really like the plastic bottle idea, the vent is already run in copper and buried in floors so I am bottle hunting as we speak ?.
  12. Just getting my plumbing done and noticed ( after it was done) that the 22mm copper vent pipe to my unvented DHW cylinder is a “ hole” in my airtight house. I suppose I could create a trap by using lots of 90’ bends but even if I filled it with water it would eventually dry up as no water passes through it regularly ( I hope?). Any good ideas out there?.
  13. Are these the right ones to order?
  14. Spooky, this is exactly what I have done ( yes staples through the mesh/mat ?) on the subject of probe, I ran ( and was supplied with) small flexible conduit which I ran from the programmer, brought it up through the wooden floor and taped over the end so the probe can be withdrawn and replaced if it fails.
  15. This is the reason for a temporary completion, fit for habitation but not complete.
  16. Well we also can’t wait to move out of our temp accommodation ( parkhome next to a neighbour) and pay council tax band a, we have our own caravan next to our build that I lived in during the initial build and plan to tell the council that we are living In that ( even though we will be kipping in the house and cooking in the caravan). It means we still pay council tax band a but save monthly rental on the parkhome plus the enormous amount of gas it uses to heat what my wife calls a colander , if the council spot us living in it I will ask for a temp completion cert until all the work is complete ( drive, fences, conservatory etc etc.) then claim back the VAT.
  17. Well, when we hired a planning consultant to help fight our planning refusal they submitted a false percolation test (we are on solid clay and I knew the figures were wrong, plus I know they did not dig one hole) and no one questioned it, I have just submitted to the EA a form to allow discharge to a ditch with a “ rumble drain” like ProDave did, didn’t realise it has a 13 week lead time (the Sewerage treatment Plant is being installed Monday ?) wish me luck guys ?.
  18. Thanks guys, comprehensive reply’s as always, flexis it is then. ( and they are easier to fit ?) is is this what I need? https://www.bes.co.uk/braided-stainless-steel-flexible-hose-3-4-x-1500mm-8131
  19. I am just getting round to installing my ASHP and involving my local plumber ( who will sign off the UVC). He has his own ASHP and when I mentioned flexi tails told me his was installed with solid pipework and he has no noise or other issues , what is the feeling on this subject?
  20. Interesting topic as I am yet to fit my doors and have ( will have) MVHR, P.S. I hate doors dragging on carpet so a gap will be fine.?
  21. I suffered from this laying thermalites, when dry they just sucked the moisture from the mortar and did not “ stick” I had to soak them with a hose before laying.
  22. Not sure how cheap but I have used it before and good and solid. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pipe-Clamp-Handrail-System-34MM-Fittings-Connectors-Kee-Key-Klamp-Tube-Q/282073491278?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D43782%26meid%3D4adf5e63b4a7470fbb696f410828fe81%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D271365472590%26itm%3D282073491278&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  23. I heard that when his original voice synthesiser broke “ they” wanted to give him a modern one which was more like a “ real” voice but he refused, saying people knew his voice and he didn’t want to change it, it was him. So “ they” had to make a new one imatating the old one.
  24. Thats exactly what I did, I too hope the state pension is still around then ?
