  1. I was in our van for two years on and off, bloody cold in winter (I was too tight to heat it properly ?), I have just dragged it away to a corner of our field and is for sale, tired but functional, needs carpet and Lino but complete, we have advertised it for £1500. It also doubled as “site facilities “ for the builders (who were grateful in the winter).
  2. Just found this on the web
  3. In fairness our washing machine is also a dryer (for half loads ) so will see how it goes.
  4. Here is where the sunroom will go. Will post pic of completion
  5. Great Nod, thanks. Do you mean 4 of water and 1 of SBR.?
  6. Glad you called it a sunroom, it’s what I meant (as I hate usual conservatories). Thanks for that Declan.
  7. I don’t like slate much as it scratches easily (and our conservatory is also our back door, dogs etc) I like porcelain as it’s bullet proof and I am hoping because it’s glued to a concrete screed it will absorb some heat. My question is more about gluing methods etc to avoid problems ( my kitchen floor has a few tiles that sound hollow but I have fitted the kitchen/skirting so I am loathed to disturb it).
  8. Ha, I designed the house with no tumble drier in it as I said the MVHR and the conservatory would be more than enough to dry our clothes and save us a shed load of cash! For once I did not get an argument ?
  9. Our new conservatory will be fitted in a few weeks, then the builder will be screeding over 200mm of insulation . After reading other threads on tiling, de coupling mats etc etc is there anything special I should do for this floor as it will cool overnight and be cold in the winter as it has no heating but will get warm (hot) in the summer due to facing South (solar glass is being installed in the roof to hopefully negate over heating).? I was thinking of a floor tile that was not too light in colour so it would absorb heat during the day to make evening temps warm! P.S. it will be 10m by 2.3m.
  10. I am with Jeremy, I have been fitting kitchens for years as a job and I have just used laminate for my own new build kitchen. ?
  11. Yes I used an angle grinder with a flap wheel but that’s a lot neater, what’s the cost and where did you source it!
  12. Well I don’t care what he charged, the Work was crap and “not fit for purpose” . Wether you pursue him for your money back is up to you but I agree with others, get three opinions and quotes for the work you require. If you have photos of his work and there is a chance others will see them, he may well offer you your money back!!!
  13. You mentioned bending steel, should be fairly easy with map Gas and a big vice.
  14. I have got a thicknesses/planer and planed old oak boards but it killed the blades, old oak is very hard and contains stuff that blunts blades fast. I guess a joinery shop would give you a price for doing this on an industrial machine and probably join the boards fir you as well. Google “joinery near me”. As far as metal frame, again google “steel fabricators near me” (small firm would be best for small jobs). If you were near me I could weld something up for you.
  15. Also hi and welcome, I used to live in Shropshire near Shrewsbury.
  16. Is your drive and visibility splay specced on your planning application? Does it have to be that big?Temporary bollards (so you could get HGV in there if you really wanted to) might be an answer! Also PIR lights will diswade use as a car park at night. If I remember correctly from our fight with the council over access and splays, visibility can be over a grass bank up to 250mm high so a grass bank with vertical edges still count as visibility splays.
  17. I have an internal AAV in our new build but the drain run goes past the house and to the detached garage with a loo so I put the stack on the back of the garage.
  18. I too had a leak on my own land but was unable to find it (meter was bombing round with no taps on) water co. come out and not only found the leak (an old stopcock buried in the front lawn) but repaired it and refunded the excess water usage based on previous readings. I was told this would only happen once, if it happens again I would have to pay. I was a very happy bunny.
  19. This has been discussed here and elsewhere and I am not having a legionella cycle in my DHW system. I do however envy your pure water Dave!.
  20. Mine is 1200 x 800 with 1200 glass panel and 300 flipper panel, loads of room (for one ?) I wanted a 800 door but could not find one but with the flipper panel no, or very little water gets out of the tray area.
  21. Its pre a lot of things ? (life’s hard, and it shows now).
  22. Factory shop if you have one, I considered that as one eye is a bit different from the other.
  23. I had laser surgery about 30 years ago and it was brilliant, enabled me to stop wearing glasses 24/7 but I was warned as I approached 50 I might need reading glasses. At 63 I have progressed to bi focals but was told at my latest test I am beginning to get cataracts. This is the main reason for needing lots of light to see small stuff. I am not worried tho as my mate (72) has just had both his eyes de cataracted and his eyes are very good and healed within a week. For working I use “factory shop” cheap glasses as they get scratched/broken often but cost about a fiver. There are pairs all over my Workshop. Yup, things fall off or don’t work as we get older?
  24. I am glad I am retired (or is that just tired?).
