No manholes on your property?, where are your drains?. My sister had drains for the street running through her backyard which caused problems with extensions.
Centrally in the house is quite usual for the manifold simply to make pipe runs easier, ours is under the stairs, 8 mtrs from the buffer tank and ASHP gubbins.
I originally wanted UFH pipes in slab but because of illness and other problems we ended up with slab, insulation then screed with UFH pipes (flow screed). It also depends where your manifold is compared to ASHP, I ran the pipes from the ASHP to the manifold between the two layers of insulation under the screed.
That’s why I have a 30ft wide garage and 16ft door so I can get more junk in it!!!!! (Can’t wait to finish the build and tidy it up so I can find stuff.).
Happy customer of Wunda, their design and parts and when a mistake was made very quick to put it right. The only mod I made was running pipes through internal walls rather than crowding doorways with loads of pipe.
It is, but at times it does not feel like it!!!. In our case we are in and warm, just the little annoying things to do (and half an acre of landscaping).
Probably best if you can insert the new plastic pipe well into the manhole, get rid of all the old pipe. You mentioned clay pipe in the manhole, I wonder where they are joined?. You will only find out by digging out the old pipe.?
I am concentrating on getting the ground works done whilst it is dry because come the wet weather it will be impossible to drive the JCB around without it sinking or creating the Somme. I am creating a list of small snagging things to be able to do on wet days (and it’s very long!,!!!).
If I could braze or silver solder using my current gas lamp using mapp gas I would not need to purchase a mig welder which would not be used that much!.
Do you mean like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brazing-torch-for-arc-welder/123830105396?_trkparms=aid%3D444000%26algo%3DSOI.DEFAULT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140620080710%26meid%3D51b0fd4a5c6a42528591c07f9fa55acf%26pid%3D100013%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D123811007849%26itm%3D123830105396%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100013.m1986
might give it a punt. (Probably should go on a course and learn properly)
Not wishing to digress this thread but I have always fancied brazing but never got round to it, can you braze with mapp gas? (My gas torch will take mapp gas which I think is hotter.)
I do stick welding on heavier gauge stuff and would like to do bodywork (mig) but can’t justify the cost for this little amount of work I would do. I did buy a cheap gas less mig once but it was very difficult to get a decent weld so sold it on. I have been told gas less migs are not as good as gas ones.
