I have only used garage floor paint but gives a good hardwearing finish.

It looks like someone has removed a couple of water pipes hence multiples. Yes 1/ = gas. 2/ = water connection (with a washing machine hose type conn. The other two might need blanks. Connect up and test it all works. The others are correct as you mark them.

Wow that’s impressive, well done. I do question “no new openings” I think listed buildings can be converted sympathetically without looking just like its original use (which it no longer is) but hey what a lovely project and looking forward to the journey with you.

I have never seen those but I question how often would you need to get on the roof? Once a year at most? So why not use a roof ladder? I would walk up a roof of that slope (unless slates).

Is a dormer possible with thin attic party wall?
joe90 replied to timber's topic in Lofts, Dormers & Loft Conversions
Be careful, I had concrete lintels over doorways to support vertical steels to hold the ridge beam on a hip roof, however the BCO told us concrete lintels should not take point loads so we had to change them out for steels. Best to ask before you go ahead. -
Yup, almost disposable.

I disagree, I found it invaluable for filling uneven spaces and gripping surrounding materials. Yes anything can be used as a bodge.

Glueing and making it tight (no air gaps). I always preferred to cut undersized and foam to fit.

My understanding of this is if your neighbour tries to appoint a surveyor at your cost but a PWA is not required it will backfire on him and he will have to pay for it and have no bearing.

Excavation near neighbouring buildings (section 6 of the Act) 28. What does the Act say if I want to excavate near neighbouring buildings? If you plan to: excavate, or excavate for and construct foundations for a new building or structure, within 3 metres of any part of a neighbouring owner’s building or structure, where any part of that work will go deeper than the neighbour’s foundations (see diagram 6); or excavate, or excavate for and construct foundations for a new building or structure, within 6 metres of any part of a neighbouring owner’s building or structure, where any part of that work will meet a line drawn downwards at 45° in the direction of the excavation from the bottom of the neighbour’s foundations from. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/preventing-and-resolving-disputes-in-relation-to-party-walls/the-party-wall-etc-act-1996-explanatory-booklet so my interpretation of that is if you don’t intend to go lower than your neighbours foundation. NO you don’t need a PWA.

Getting confused with TF, SIPS , block and brick.
joe90 replied to Stonehouse's topic in Timber Frame
I don’t, I only used it under a concrete floor as nothing else supports concrete floors. Not necessarily, I built brick and block with 200mm cavity filled with mineral wool. The airtightness is down to attention to detail and my result was good. I am not convinced on the longevity of air tightness sticky tape . I like brick, I don’t like render (less maintenance and looks nicer in my opinion). however I like cellulose insulation for it’s being a non oil based material and very good sound proofing level. -
You could plane the 5mm off (electric planer) or use a concrete grinder on an angle grinder to remove 5mm from the lintel but this will make a real mess. Using an electric planer allows you to set depth of cut (max 3mm usually) so several cuts. How are you going to finish the ceiling next to the lintel?

Can I ask why?
-
Did you not confirm dimensions in writing that you have a record of?
-
Why can’t you remove 5mm from the bottom of the door? Ah just seen above!!!!
-
Can you not remove 5 mm from the bottom of the verticals? Door.?

It was one of these, a cheapy but for me it did the job, I am sure better quality ones are available. I think I had the 3.7kw one but was suprised how good the caravan shower was but then again caravan showers are a bit piddly https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163949862437?_skw=electric+inline+water+heater&itmmeta= -
My stair kit came with torq screws and dowel type plugs, however I glued as well and good glue is as strong as the wood itself 🤷♂️
