  1. Why? What have you got to hide? If as you say their bushes etc are causing the problem then the inspector will see that, plus if that wall fails it will fall on your land so it’s in your interest to let them get on with it surely.
  2. That says it all, crack on and feck them. Just be aware they WILL contact the council but just quote the above. 👍
  3. Make sure you don’t scratch the pipe , keep it in the wrapper as long as possible because scratches on the pipe will allow water to weep at the joins. Buy yourself a cheap pipe cutter. I always use hep20 which is better IMO don’t let pipes hang on joints, support pipes to take the strain. https://www.screwfix.com/p/faithfull-3-28mm-manual-plastic-pipe-cutter/821gc
  4. I pointed it out to the planners who kept telling me next doors ridge was x meters tall when in fact it was x + 1.2meters (I measured it when they were out: ) but the planners ignored me so yes I made the point in the appeal. The neighbour had built 1200mm higher than they told planning but it was over 10 years ago and I didn’t mind but goes to show the planners don’t check.
  5. This is exactly what I faced, bungalow one side and room In roof the other, it wasn't till I pointed out, with the street scene drawing, our two story cottage had a lower ridge than the room in roof with loads of velux,s.
  6. So are trabants 🤷‍♂️
  7. +1 I concur, I had this done for my appeal and put the application in perspective relative to the surroundings/neighbours.
  8. Ooh I want that number plate 😎
  9. Well I say go for what you want from day one and make your arguments, this is based on my fight for planning which went to appeal and I got exactly what I wanted in the end. If you compromise now you will always wonder if you could have had option 1. Yes it’s a lottery/game.
  10. When I worked for BT we used self amalgamating tape to water proof cable joints. Our instructions were to stretch the tape to half its width to ensure “amalgamation” (it turns into a solid lump of rubber). It’s what I wrapped my insulated ASHP pipes outdoors.
  11. I think that depends on what animal, I would agree that animals that meat (dogs, cats, etc) produce similar to humans but grass eaters (horses/cows etc ) produce less toxic stuff. Human waste can be treated to use as fertiliser but it’s a much more intensive process.
  12. I disagree, my slab is about 6 - 7 inches with rebar for a log type timber garage and that was calculated by an SE.
  13. Wow, what a hard working couple, as said, not a normal grand designs as not much went wrong and under budget. I am not a fan of contemporary normally but that is the best I have ever seen. Hats off to you both. Only one criticism, no mention of build hub 🤣🤣.
  14. Can you put links to the two in question?
  15. Yes and they have no reason to visit again.
  16. Jealousy will get me nowhere mate.🚘
  17. Well you will drive an AMG (if I remember correctly 🤷‍♂️).
  18. Well, as I posted earlier I did and not only didn’t I loose my shirt but came In under budget so could afford a huge oak conservatory rather than soft wood or UPVC. caveat….it was a relatively straightforward design (of mine).
  19. Alternatively if you used parliament hinges the door would open back on itself (180’) out the way but was available to shut if you wanted it too 🤷‍♂️
  20. I full filled my 200mm cavity with dritherm batts, they came with a bba certificate for full fill. Damp did penetrate the outer brickwork at one stage but the insulation did not wick the damp into itself (I cured the damp problem afterwards.). So in my opinion it’s nothing to worry about but good for you for asking 👍
  21. Yes, our planners tried to over rule our ecologists but were told by the appeal inspector they could not (I did not want bat boxes in the new build but was willing to build bat boxes into the detached garage which the ecologist said was acceptable).
  22. That is easily fixable but the felt looks suspect and tiles missing? Try to knock them down on price, find a local builder/roofer to give you a quote.
  23. Don’t give up. Proving thickness of slab can be done by core drilling. My timber (detached) garage is on a 9” slab with no other foundations. As it is attached you need building regs (from what I can gather) and as you rightly say fire proof at the boundary. What you need is a build method that can use your existing slab. Q/ how many core samples would be required to establish overall slab thickness?
  24. No Temp, Mark is asking about the distance 2m. From the boundary.
  25. Just been looking at the gov website, unfortunately I can’t cut and past but it says “if any part of the proposed extension is within 2 meters of the boundary etc etc, “ so I would include guttering, facia,s etc but I would not include extended slab IMO as this could be a path around the extension/garden.
