  1. Just saying as I have seen it done (not by my plasterer) 🤯
  2. I prefer noggins all round but ask the plasterer to use scrim around the edges to tie wall to ceiling plaster if you don’t have time!
  3. Sistering is all about stopping deflection (bending) which the added 200mm will sort so don’t worry about the wall plate only resting on 100mm 👍
  4. Yes Not necessarily but as said GSHP pull heat from the ground but at a very low level, at least there is no “wind wash” effect which can cool an above structure quite a lot.
  5. To keep the temperature stable. ( I have built a wine cellar for a customer )
  6. Zoot, how many “highs” have you got? Is it worth marking them and angle grinding them back flat just fir the wall plateau get over the worst? 🤷‍♂️
  7. I know mine are oak not aluminium but my bifolds are great, german made mechanics that my door company have used for many years and they have had no problems, no call backs. Fully adjustable with compression seals, not brushes. Frame is more chunky with wood but fits our cottage theme.
  8. Interesting, the other forum I mentioned above also had members who advocated creating an insulation “skirt” horizontally around the outside of a new build to create a larger footprint to retain the heat within the ground. Not heard of it since 🤷‍♂️
  9. What are these for? Hanging plants?
  10. Well it’s interesting that my filters are still clean after two years even with the fire lit during winter 🤷‍♂️
  11. I concur, in summer my 4Kw ASHP with two people runs fir about an hour to top the DHW tank up to 48’ and not every day!
  12. This was discussed on a other forum years ago, yes the Earth below a slab will stabilise in temp and IMO be above outside air temp, but this will also depend on insulation u value (thickness) as the heat flows down from the house. It was also discussed about ground water being able to wash the heat away in extreme cases. Mine is a slab on 200mm PIR with UFH and never gets cold even with the heating off.
  13. Wow, is that dirt? Just goes to show what you would be breathing/cleaning.
  14. No you’re not, you are just learning, perhaps we could do you a drawing to work to, that might be easier to understand?
  15. But without taking the door frame out what can you do about that.?
  16. https://www.screwfix.com/p/easyfix-steel-square-washers-m16-x-5mm-10-pack/866ft
  17. 140mm over a metre!,! Hardly a slope 🤔
  18. I don’t know if it’s because we are very rural but ours have been in and running fir two years and appear as clean as the day I installed them.
  19. Not if there is air flow around it., you could try DPC sheet https://www.screwfix.com/p/capital-valley-plastics-ltd-vapour-barrier-green-300ga-20-x-2-5m
  20. Why avoid soldering? Have you got a pipe bending spring? Then bend it around something solid the right diameter the whole 180’.
  21. The only way to do this properly is to strip and felt and batten but if it’s purely to stop dust/crap then staple plastic sheeting to the underside of the rafters but leave gaps top and bottom fir air circulation.
