  1. Comfrey is supposed to be very good but stinks so I have heard!
  2. Welding with gussets would be much stronger I guess šŸ¤”Yes pallets are a good idea (and you keep the steel šŸ˜Ž
  3. A bit like mine then🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣a rectangle orientated South to the long section is the most efficient relative to solar gain. A ā€œpyramid roofā€ is also the most cost effective.
  4. But as I have no PV (yet) and I only heat DHW to 48’ i would end up with Luke warm water šŸ¤”
  5. Bung all off cuts in stud walls to absorb sound!
  6. But if you did this then someone halfway through a shower would get warm water not hot šŸ¤”. What we need is a ā€œfuel gauge ā€œ like on a petrol tank, come on bods design us something (that’s not complicated because I am a Luddite šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø)
  7. Well, the downpipe on the house is a smaller diameter than the underground pipe so if you put your overflow into the drain in the ground it’s not a problem.
  8. I would keep the barrels for watering the plants etc and fit an overflow to your house drains, nothing to say you can’t.
  9. Brick acid ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313562295784
  10. Definitely šŸ‘, you have proved yourself that with a little advise you are quite capable. I would fix the wall timber with threaded rod epoxied into the ā€œtop of the hillsā€, and if needed pack out a low bit. I suggest you draw a plan up, post it here and you will get advise on whether it needs amending or not. Crack on sunshine šŸ˜Ž
  11. Tarps are a nightmare, short term only IMO, the only way to keep it completely dry is scaffolding top hat (temporary tin roof) but these are expensive. Depends how much of existing is being kept and needs to be kept dry. A new build (like mine) got very wet but will dry out.
  12. Let us know how you get on, if we don’t hear from you we know the worst has happened 🤣
  13. We’re not the YMCA šŸ‘®ā€ā™€ļø
  14. Hot tub? Used in summer when the sun shines the most šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
  15. Moving swiftly on….. I agree with Dave, option 1 IMO. If you are not happy with your architect then find one you are happy with ( if you need one šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø)
  16. Welcome Paul, lots of knowledge here, ask away.
  17. @CharlieKLP why are you more interested in discrediting people than helping the OP?
  18. No, @thetinothproject stated he WAS an architect, why do you question this? Why don’t you give us some insight as a professional on the original question rather than question other people’s qualifications!
  19. @thetinothproject states he is an architect, as per the other thread on architects it’s about what the OP wants, not what ā€œprofessionalsā€ thinks he should have. I turned our build round 90’ to face the drive, not the road which also gave us a South facing lounge, diner and conservatory šŸ‘
  20. Make sure you have someone else with you to haul you out if it gets sticky, harness and rope might be good.
  21. I totally agree, I had four applications, gone to committee and appeal to the Secretary of State (which I won), the build was a doddle.
  22. With my build I refused to get stressed because of health issues linked to stress in the past. I told my builder I understood shit happened in life and any problems we come across we will deal with, because of this our site was a stress free zone, perhaps I was lucky but stress only causes bad health and does not actually deal with the problem s you encounter, take a deep breath and count to ten!
  23. What is your hedge ? Leylandi, privet? If privet you could cut it back to the centre and put up chain link fence then the privet will grow back through it but you will be secure. Unfortunately leylandi won’t ā€œgreen upā€ if you cut it back to the brown core. Personally I don’t like panel fences, they don’t last very long and tend to blow down, if you don’t mind trimming a couple of times a year a hedge looks better and lasts longer IMO.
