  1. Is this the front elevation of the house? If not I would just crack on. Technically with a front elevation you might but is anyone going to chase you about it 🤷‍♂️ You could always get retrospective planning after it’s done (if you have to). Regarding building regs just get the window fitted by a Fensa fitter then no notification required (and months waiting with costs!!!).
  2. Self amalgamating tape will, used to use it to waterproof cable joints in BT, the trick is to stretch it to half its width and wind it overlapping 50%, I will turn into a solid rubber after a while and stay flexible.
  3. I use an ordinary extendable ladder but have to use a u bolt holding the two sections together to stop the lower section sliding away (it’s not made for this type of use) with bolt on hook/wheels at the top. Does fir me 🤷‍♂️
  4. But a fan will not remove water just move the heat faster.
  5. The 75mm one for £180 says “no ethanol “ 🤔
  6. But, mounted “portrait” you will have problems getting the air out of it 🤷‍♂️
  7. As long as there is a connection/support between the edges of the sheets of ply, so yes IMO.
  8. Come on guys, don’t confuse @faby, I prefer to drill the board being held down so the thread does not bite into it, same as wood screws with partial thread (like they all were back in the dark ages 🤣).
  9. But he needs to cut it to move it!,! Yes 9” angle grinder with stone blade, ear defenders goggles and mask.
  10. I also am on clay and BCO said “where are going to put your soakaway” I replied “you mean pond, we are on clay and it will not soakaway”, I explained that any rain falling on the plot would eventually run to the ditch along the bottom of the plot , so I piped it there. I would get your BCO out and see what he suggests. ( no two BCO,s read the regs the same, I was lucky).
  11. Interesting stuff, no idea how to do it but I guess what’s really needed is a smooth reduction in diameter to stop turbulence at the “steps” 🤷‍♂️.
  12. Square pegs, Round holes 🤷‍♂️
  13. Not when the joists are rectangles! Plus you would need an even bigger “tool” to core drill that size 🤷‍♂️
  14. When reading about the fountains at chatsworth house the water come from a lake above the house and the pipe starts large then gets smaller till it produced a 300ft plume. I think this is the same theory with hydro.
  15. @graham1 if you need to test can you not drain down your DHW tank and pressurise the heating system and see if the pressure falls (it will fall faster if no water in the DHW tank).
  16. But lots of water is flowing past the pipe 🤷‍♂️ More pipe will collect more water. @ProDave you need a dam 🤯
  17. Actually I agree stand off probably better, drainage behind etc.
  18. Love it Dave 👍, if I remember correctly Dick Strawbridge when he did a water wheel in cornwall (many years ago) had an 80:1 gearbox but had a much heavier wheel and more head.
  19. Then why not use straps and hangers https://www.toolstation.com/light-duty-strap-bend/p82881 (mind you know you NEED an angle grinder, oh and a diamond disc 🤣).
  20. 9” angle grinder (with soft start) might be more manageable than a stihl saw.
  21. Well that’s a start 🤷‍♂️
  22. You can’t but as you appear to be getting on with your neighbour just point it out.
  23. I had oak bifolds made by a local door / window manufacturer using Henderson kit for top hung 3 panel doors and they are great, fully adjustable and they have been using the kit for years with no problems.
  24. Surely that’s fixable quite cheaply?
  25. I think it should be fine as long as he does not pile soil above you DPC. Nothing worse than falling out with neighbours.
