I would look at planning permission and build it properly. That lintel will bend like a boomerang and your doors won’t open. You need to do it differently. Two kerto timber beams over doors with maybe a steel flitch plate between them, then hang your roof timbers from the inner face of the timbers NOT on top, this will keep your height down. Theres a million ways to do it, but that skinny concrete lintel is not one of them. 2150 is the lowest I would go with finish ceiling height. My ceiling in the place we live now is 2150 and it’s not exactly fancy and I’m only 5 foot 6.

Get some 1mm galv wire and a pair of nippers, tie them up just like reinforcement cages.

No, these are long ferrules about 15-20mm long and roll around the wire to form a tube.

Do you know about the metal ferrule type things that you can put on the wire to make cages, come with pliers to squeeze shut.

Because I’m a clever fooker Been there got the t shirt bud. Sprayed a few houses in oz. always back roll. You get a hairline crack you cannot just grab the roller and give it a quick run over, as it will show up like dogs balls.

If you put a light in the wrong place you cannot patch and move position, without re spraying the whole ceiling.

Can you not insulate the one you have. Years ago the go to method was to put loft insulation on the back covered in a plastic sheet stapled to the back of the door. Just depends on how much you want to spend.

If your not having to comply with building regs then any amount is better than none, I would avoid the cheap loft insulation it’s a horrible bastard thing to use, buy some better quality more user friendly stuff, the brown knauf stuff is a lot nicer than the golden coloured glass wool.

I’ve had a number of projects where gabions would have been perfect, but every time I’ve priced them up it all works out too expensive. In the past I used them but it was always with a big landscape architect and cost was not really the issue. Could you make them out of sheep netting? a friend of mine has just made some cages out of sheep netting, he has made them round by just joining the net back onto itself, but if you put these in a row you could flatten the front. As long as you place the front rocks so they won’t fall through the back stuff can just be loose.

Are you not using a decoupling mat under the tiles, if you do this will probably bring you up to the height you need. Have you got ufh.

Is there a reason you cannot get them the same. I would try very hard to achieve the same height, either some floor levelling compound under one or the other. What are the make up of the two finishes.

So electrical main coming into the property, and some type of comms cable going out to the garden gate to give signal to open gates and also receive signal from intercom and cameras. Now i believe these two should be separated to stop interference from the electrical cable, can anybody point me at distances apart and the bit I’m thinking about is the entry to the cupboard where the cu will be, at the moment I have two ducts that come up through my block n beam floor, but these ducts touch, should they be spaced apart by drilling another hole in the floor and having each in opposite sides of the cupboard, or is ducting sufficient to isolate them from each other. @PeterW @ProDave @Onoff

I’m not convinced containers is the way to go, I think they are constricting in size and require a huge amount of work to insulate, all they bring to the party is a box and it’s not hard to build a box. I would think a simple steel frame with timber panels installed in between could be far simpler.

Hire the correct props from nudura, if you can collect them you will save a fortune on delivery, you will need so few it won’t be expensive. However if your room room is so small why not brace it with 4x2 up the walls vertically then brace from wall to wall, you will need to get it spot on as you won’t have any adjustment. By the time you hire acrows you could hire the proper thing. Call your our local rep he should have a site you can go and collect a few from. Where in the country are you.

Cool, it’s ordered and on its way, I was probably worrying unnecessarily as it will never have water sitting in it, just whooshing past at 100mph. Would probably never leak even if I didn’t glue it at all.

Can you fill in the blank thickness I need to work out. Adhesive for ditra Matt_______ mm?? ditra Matt. _______ mm ?? adhesive for tiles. _______ mm?? porcelain tiles. 10.5 mm so overall I need to allow ________ mm?? cheers chaps,
