  1. Looks good fella.
  2. Get that sorted you rough git. if you dont that is going to bug you forever. IMO to big to leave buddy.
  3. Yes , i have been told that many, many times. It's about time the mortgage companies woke up to the new construction methods that are now in use. Buy a 130 year old damp, drafty, e, energy rated, old brick property....mortgage no problem. Modern A rated timber house....Sorry sir.... It's a joke ....
  4. I bought a second hand stair lift for my dad. It was only 10 months old and i paid 400 quid. He had use of it for about a year, and i sold it on ebay for 400quid.
  5. make sure you notify the council (As Jap knot weed is a notifibiable weed) just so they can log it against your property, and make sure it comes up on any future searches and de-values your property accordingly... Or, Kill the bar-steward, and tell nobody. Had some at my daughters tiny garden 10ft x 10ft total garden size. i spent 2 years spraying the crap out of it on a weekly basis. ( Over the top, and a waste of weed killer). Then dug it out, took 12" of soil out, and stuck 6"of concrete over 6" of rubble, over a geotex membrane.......I've never seen it again.
  6. Whack em with your giant member if they want to fight.
  7. LPA's are all tossers......Full Stop. Whole system needs a re-vamp. Whole system need putting in the bin and starting again from scratch. Burn down the council offices i say. that will get some attention. A hooker and coke normally gets the planning officer on side. (you have to take photos)
  8. Well done for getting it sorted. Defo a rear end tremor moment.
  9. Steamy Tea.Should you not be churning out 200 meals or something ? 200 meals in 4 hours....impressive. I can burn toast. That's about it.
  10. The fashion used to be to shop every One or Two weeks 5 or 6 years ago. Hence when i was designing kitchens i would always allow for a large fridge freezer in the kitchen, with a wine cooler (for drinks), and a large fridge freezer in the utility room. However, i think a lot of people now shop on a more regular basis, especially people who's kids have gone, or who are older. For a family house i would still kit out for lots of food (frozen and chilled) but perhaps not in a smaller place. I had just realised that i have not helped at all.?
  11. Once you start the planning permission will be locked in, so there will be no worry about how long it takes you to complete.
  12. Thanks for all the replies. I have had a look at the MCS registration site, but it won't let me in. I should have said that according to Google Earth the panels were fitted sometime between 2007, and 2017. My concern is that, as an old boy, he may have been talked into one of the rent a roof schemes, and i am aware that some of those are a total pain. Ie; you can't extend without the lease holders permission, you might be responsible for the maintainence, you don't get the fit payments. Although i don't need a mortgage, if i wanted to sell on, a lot of mortgage companies won't lend. If you can manage to track the leaseholder down, they will sometimes allow you to buy out of the lease, but normally at the remaining years of the fit payments, together with a premium. I will have to go back to the exectutors to try and get some more info.....I bet they don't have a clue....My only alternative is to knock my offer down by a substantial amount.. I will keep you posted. Thanks for your time.
  13. Thanks Nick, i will try that now.
  14. Evening all. I have just had an offer accepted on a house... it's a probate sale..... On the roof there are 18 solar panels. That's basically all i can tell you. I have no idea if they are 20w or 200w a piece. I know i have to make sure that they actually belong to the house, and not that the old boy sold his roof space, and the panels belond to some company. Providing they were his, the only other thing i can tell you from looking on google earth, is that they have been fitted since 2007. Would anybody on here have any idea if the old boy was receiving FIT payments, could these now be transfered to me ? Any idea how i would go about it. They are facing south west at about 40degrees. They may have had there day by now ? as i have said i have no idea about solar. Thanks for your help.
  15. If you haven't set your nut sack on fire with an angle grinder, then you haven't lived Zoot the hoot.
  16. We fuss about the little things that nobody else ever notices.
  17. That looks great Zoot the Hoot. Well done fella.
  18. P.s Your builders have a right to work. I have no doubt that the people on site will have either rent, or mortgages to pay. Your neighbours prob bought the house for a few grand back in the dark ages, and think that because they have live there for ever they can call the shots. I hate neighbours. I would like to either live in the middle of nowhere, or in a street of average poor people.
  19. I hope with regards the neighbours that you don't end up where i have a few times. I have previously done renovations and extensions to property i have owned. I have ended up in the end not wanting to stay in the house due to the soured relationship with neighbours. So when i have finished them, i have ended up just selling them on. It's funny, i am currently looking at a house in what i would call, not a run down area, but a bit old, a bit tired area. If i get it, i recon i can make £50k on the re-sale after refurb. Better still, i recon i will get permission to put an extra house to the side. If i did, it's another £100k + in the bank. The area just has normal people, the type who might do there own car servicing on the drive, rather than getting the main dealer to collect and service it (If you know what i mean.) I have started to realise in life that the nicest people i meet, are people who are just trying to get by, and get on with life. The most unpleasent people i know are the people with money. I saw a tv programme a few years ago about some really poor street in Southend. Everybody were on the breadline. They all looked out for each other, they all kept an eye on each others kids, and if One of them was hungry, somebody in the street would sort them out with a meal. I said to my wife "What a great place to live" They seemed to have values that so many people no longer have.
  20. I believe that back in the Victorian times they used to make One of the stair rises about an inch higher than the rest. The occupants would quickly get used to it, and would stomp up and down the stairs without noticing it. I believe the idea behind it was that the man with the swag bag would stumble on the stairs and rattle your silver. This would wake you up, and you could come out of your room and shout bounder. I personally like what you are trying to do, so do what you need to get it passed, and then alter it.
  21. Thanks Nod. So it would appear that i have the right to discharge an overflow from my soakaway crates to the ditch. The prob is that i am the only person who keeps my ditch clear. The result could be that i cause local flooding due to the ditch not being maintained properly. Not my problem ?
  22. I had to chuckle. I did exactly that on a new expensive pair of glazed front doors on my last house. I never owned up, and my mrs always said the front doors were a right pain to clean and felt gritty. I said it must be funny foreign glass as i had imported the doors.?
  23. As that question has been answered, i hope it's ok to pose a quick one. If i have a ditch at the front of my property, and the council have advised me that i own half the ditch. They have advised me that i have a riparian responsibility to keep the ditch clear (no problem) would you know if i would have the right to discharge rain water into that ditch ? say i had a 6 cubic mt soakaway crate system to take the rain water from my roof. If the ground wasn't great, and the soakaway was full, could i have an overflow pipe that fed into the ditch ?
  24. I had a scratch on a large mirror. Got it out with jewellers rouge. Takes some time as it literally removes glass and polishes it at the same time. Took bloody ages and you could see the dimple that was made by the mirror reflection.
