I buy boards several hundred at a time and can’t get a better deal on wallboards than Wickes etc But MR FL SB are much cheaper around £9 finish 6 compound 7 Yours are good prices if your not buying a lot Insulation boards well under what Wickes charge
-
As your build goes up your Brickies or more likely you should rattle your cavity ties I normally use a 3 meter length of metal conduit Simply put it down en the cavity and give each tie a tap I normally do this at chamber height then just before the roof goes on
-
You can dab onto the cavity closers two lines one against the frame the other down the edge of the block once dabed fill the gap between the reveal board and the edge of the block Then solid dab over it If your battening rough brick I would fix the batons directly to the wall Then simply staple an airtight membrane to the face of the batons Cheap and quick Theres nothing to stop you using a J bead Or a 25x15 angle fixed to the frame You will find the later easier if your not familiar with them

Save your money on Parge coat and spend it sealing around the door and window openings It’s also worth applying acoustic sealer around every edge of plasterboard that meets external brick or block I assume that your dry lining Give the fixers a bit more money to take care that all the edges are sealed By putting a Parge coat on You’ve already accepted that air will leak behind the plasterboard Parge is a diy thing Even the housing associations have given up on it The last Parge I applied for airtightness was for a self builder and the one before that also

Minimum needed for completion certificate - advice needed
nod replied to BadgerBadger's topic in Building Regulations
As Peter has already said A bit more detail needed If you are talking about moving in to your new build You don’t need a completion certificate to do that or to get home insurance But would be worth having electrics and any gas certified -
I haven’t in either of our builds Some companies and most housing associations do Its quote Simple to do You run a tray all the way around the perimeter sloping down to dpc Some do the same at chamber also Usually local authority

we had a similar situation at my mother-in-law’s I ripped the old fence down and stacked it in his garden and put a new one up in the same spot we paid for it ourselves My mother-in-law cornered him a few weeks later and managed to get £80 towards his half I suspect neighbor couldn’t care less where it goes As long as he doesn’t have to pay for it

It could be settlement or shrinkage Easy enough to repair

We tile lots of these Ive never sanded Worth sealing with SBR though -
I think the tidiness comes from doing most things ourselves We work all day and leave half an hour at the end of the day to tidy up Something that most trades don’t seem to get
-
Yep and don’t forget to give them directions to the nearest cafe

I’d use 15 mil ply You are right though you shouldn’t be doing any of this
-
It is But they will want the easy option
-

As part of my business I use Venetian polished plasters Clayworks etc Ive used micro cement on walls to match up with floors that have already been done Only about 4 mil thick so the subfloor needs to be perfect Your looking around 70m2 for a good sized area The company that I’ve come across over the years are Tocco I’m nearly sure they have an office in York or Leeds Pretty sure they will have a job that you can go and visit
-
Yes sure The way they were talking it sounds like the reductions will be across the board No pun intended They where packed to the rafters with sheet materials Nice to be talking about reductions I buy a lot of insulated plasterboard I think that will be next The insulation stockist that I use is running stock down As the increases are not sustainable good news for all on here
-
I’ve just taken 10 upstairs for wind racking When I get time to build the timber studs You don’t see them that thick on site Im not sure what they use them for It’s nice to have something coming down in price
-
I called at the plywood merchant today for a pack of structural ply and was told if I hang on till next week ALL there prices are coming down Makes a change So anyone buying Hang on a week or so I picked up 15 sheets of 25 mil OSB while I was there £12 per sheet plus vat Massive place but stocked to the rafters
