  1. If you cut that flush it'll leave a hole with a potentially sharp edge. You do not want a fox, small dog etc putting it's paw down it and breaking it's leg. It needs filling properly afterwards.

  2. Thinking about we’ve had machines with restrictors to maintain certainty that the proximity limits in GS6 aren’t breached.

  3. What is the render applied to? I cannot tell the likely depth of the structure. Could the bricks be the render carrier? If so, no! - you cannot remove the bricks!

  7. An alternative is to use GRP (fibreglass). Messy, but will mold round that batten nicely. You could go all the way along the join, making it one continuous seal. Thinking about it, this probably the better solution in this situation

  8. I think the sticky EPDM is the answer, but not in one piece. A piece over the batten first, which goes up the slope say 10-15 cm, and also across the flat board by the same amount. Then a piece that comes down the slope and overlaps the first piece. Where it gets to the batten, overlap as far as you can, probably only 3-4 cm, molding it round as best you can, getting it to stick as well as possible. Finally, slap some of our favourite sealant, CT1, across all the joins of both pieces. HTH

  10. I think you need to re think this whole operation. you started off with saying you where getting a 3 tonne machine with a pecker, how has this jumped to a 7 tonner and a pecker, it could be that’s what you can get locally. if you get a bigger machine you certainly don’t need the pecker. just pick the slab up at the corner and drop it a couple of times. if you purposely want little bits of concrete then get a smaller machine 2-3 tonne and a pecker. look up the specs of the machines, as you are finding out a 7 tonner is significantly bigger than a 2-3 so far more likely to be able to get into the danger zone of working near cables. stop and re think this job, you will end up using a big hammer to crack an egg. big machines are brilliant at getting lots done, but for an amateur you can make a lot of mess and a lot of damage very quickly. 3 tonner for a weekend will see all that concrete gone. picture is an 8 tonne machine.

  12. The climate change story has been identical for my whole life. 1. The world is heating up. 2. We're the cause of it. 3. We're doing a bit to help. 4. It's nowhere near enough. Repeat.. Am I missing anything or can I just go back to ignoring it so as to not feel guilty about sometimes I can't possibly fix.

  17. I’m afraid I think your wrong, they are suppling a product, you might do something random with it like fit it in a shipping container house, if you have specific fitting requirements then your architect should supply a drawing. You might go to them and ask if they can advise on fittings per window according to weight. From my experience this last couple of years you are far better off just getting some windows and then designing the fitting method and employing a couple of good lads to fit them to your spec. The window fitters will want to chuck them in as fast as possible and off to the next job. Unless you are having a one off bespoke door system that requires weeks of discussion between architect and window supplier.
