  2. So after a month or so in the house, the time has provided us with an opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved and what if anything, we would change or could have done differently. In truth there is very little if anything that we would change. The rooms flow, the doors open in the right direction and the lights can be switched on and off in the appropriate places. Even the WBS has proven to be a worry that wasn't worth worrying about, as it's position within the hearth is no longer an issue due to it being vented through the back as opposed to the top. Some jobs have been completed such as the down pipes and a few jobs remain outstanding but nothing that has an impact upon our daily lives. One such job is the porch that needs to be slated. Thankfully I still have some financial leverage over those various trades so I know they will return. Our satisfaction I suppose, has to be routed in the preparation work, the research and being a member of this superb forum. None of these elements should be underestimated. Therefore I would like to sign off this blog with a heartfelt thanks to all those who have contributed, not only to my issues over the past couple of years, but to all the other threads, as they too are just as relevant / enlightening. I have also attached some images which complete the project, namely the WBS chimney installation and the erection of the much mentioned porch. For a final time, thanks for reading, and given the date, seasons greetings to you all. Paul.

  5. Beginning to wonder if that 90% setting was originally intended to be when it's discharged to 90% state of charge (i.e., 10% discharged) but it got misinterpreted by the programmer/technical writer and the management at Sunamp haven't yet realised what's happened.

  7. I’ve had similar although the roofers were the funniest when the apprentice got the job of cleaning the van one afternoon and he chucked £100 of scrap lead into my skip.... would be rude not to weigh it in ?

  8. Time off is a dangerous thing....eating breakfast sitting in the sun streaming in through the windows this morning, counting our blessings and not the hole in the savings account, idly musing on the jobs still to complete to finish off here when up popped an e-mail ....it was for a barn to convert with fantastic views over fields and out to sea. It was in one of my all time favourite places in Wales too.......before we knew it we had pencil and paper out doing the sums! Get thee behind me I have to recover from the last 2 years here first!!!

  9. How frustrating. Just a couple of thoughts - hire a photo spectrometer and pop it onto the colour you like (you can get this done free at some DIY stores if you have a sample as they can scan it), push the trigger and you can get all the colour info you need plus a load of other info you don't. Alternative would be to buy a stack of tinted glasses (Rose tint won't do it for green) which make all the green spectrum look grey and offer them to visitors, wear them constantly yourself of course. There will be a solution that does not involve a new window.
